Abstract

A method of removing accumulated twine from a rotary shaft of a rotary bale shredder. Firstly, providing a rotary bale shredder having a bale receiving cradle with a rotary shaft positioned in close proximity to the bale receiving cradle. A plurality of cutting blades are mounted on the rotary shaft which shred a bale positioned on the bale receiving cradle. Secondly, providing a track along the exterior surface between the first end and the second end of the rotary shaft. Thirdly, providing a cutting knife that can engage the track. Fourthly, securing a line to the cutting knife and exerting a force upon the line to draw the cutting knife along the track to sever any twine that is wrapped around the rotary shaft.
