Abstract
L'invention décrit des compositions arrêtant l'eau et des procédés pour préparer ces dernières. Lesdites compositions présentent un gonflement ou une dilatation volumique contrôlés lors de leur immersion dans l'eau. Ces compositions gonflent d'environ 5 à 8 % au bout de 1 jour d'immersion et d'environ 35 à 65 % au bout de 28 jours d'immersion. Un mélange d'argile bentonitique sodique à action rapide et d'argile bentonitique calcique à action plus lente ainsi qu'une combinaison spécifique d'élastomère thermoplastique, de constituants de butylcaoutchouc réticulé et de polyisobutylène, contribuent à cette dilatation contrôlée souhaitée. Un autre facteur important pour obtenir la dilatation souhaitée est une étape de mélange homogène pour assurer l'homogénéité du produit, au cours de laquelle les constituants du mélange sont mélangés dans un mélangeur à caoutchouc pour un laps de temps supplémentaire après que tous les constituants ont été ajoutés au mélangeur.
