Abstract

La présente invention concerne un système pour le stockage de dossiers médicaux. Les dossiers sont stockés dans une base de données sur un serveur. Chaque dossier inclut deux parties principales, à savoir un ensemble d'éléments de données contenant des informations de nature médicale relatives à un individu, et une pluralité de pointeurs indiquant des adresses ou des emplacements distants où se trouvent d'autres données médicales concernant cet individu en particulier. Chaque dossier inclut également un élément de données indiquant le type basique de données médicales présentes à l'emplacement pointé par un pointeur particulier. Cet agencement permet à un poste de travail client de télécharger le dossier avec l'ensemble de pointeurs qui relient le client aux fichiers stockés à distance. L'identification du type basique d'informations pointées par chaque pointeur permet au médecin de sélectionner les informations d'intérêt et ainsi d'éviter de télécharger des volumes massifs de données dont seule une partie est nécessaire à cet instant. De plus, cette structure de dossier permet d'effectuer des interrogations statistiques sans avoir à accéder aux données derrière les pointeurs. € titre d'exemple, une interrogation peut être élaborée à partir de clés, dont l'une concerne le type de données pointées par un pointeur. L'interrogation peut donc être effectuée uniquement sur la base des pointeurs et des informations restantes dans le dossier.
