Abstract

Après un séchage par de l'air traversant, on soumet à un calandrage des bandes basse densité constituées de fibres de pâte thermomécanique chimique blanchies et de résine incorporée pour améliorer la résistance au déchirement à l'état humide, ce calandrage ayant pour effet d'augmenter, d'une manière considérable, la densité et de diminuer l'épaisseur. Lorsque ces bandes sont mouillées, elles reviennent sensiblement à leur épaisseur initiale et à leur densité initiale, pour retrouver leur aptitude initiale à absorber les fluides. Par conséquent, ces bandes sont très minces quand elles sont sèches et épaisses quand elles sont mouillées. Elles peuvent être utilisées dans une variété d'applications, en particulier pour des serviettes en papier, des essuie-mains et des éléments absorbants dans les articles pour bébés et les articles d'hygiène personnelle.
