Abstract
Selon la présente invention, certains types de composés du zinc, lorsqu'ils sont ajoutés à des formulations (telles que les lubrifiants pour préservatif et les gelées lubrifiantes) appliquées localement sur une ou plusieurs surfaces génitales durant les rapports sexuels, peuvent réduire les irritations causées par les agents spermicides et/ou microbicides qui agissent essentiellement comme des toxines destinées à tuer divers types de cellules et de microbes. Des composés du zinc préférés comprennent le lactate de zinc, le gluconate de zinc, l'acétate de zinc et d'autres sels de zinc organiques hydrosolubles. Les additifs contenant du zinc, non seulement réduisent l'irritation causée par les tensio-actifs (tels que le nonoxynol ou l'octoxynol) et autres microbicides présents dans les formulations génitales topiques, mais ils contribuent à stabiliser et à protéger les membranes cellulaires et, par conséquent, à protéger les surfaces génitales contre les dommages causés par une exposition répétée à des agents qui attaquent les membranes lipidiques entourant les cellules mammaliennes. Les additifs contenant du zinc peuvent également contribuer à accélérer la cicatrisation et la fermeture des lésions ou autres blessures cutanées causées par les toxines spermicides ou microbicides ou par l'abrasion, les éruptions cutanées, les maladies sexuellement transmissibles, ou causées par d'autres facteurs. Grâce à ces effets, les formulations génitales topiques contenant des spermicides ou des microbicides et contenant également un composé de zinc approprié peuvent favoriser une meilleure carnation et une meilleures santé et hygiène génitales, en comparaison avec des formulations similaires contenant un spermicide et/ou un microbicide, mais dépourvues de zinc. En outre, les additifs contenant du zinc peuvent également réduire le risque et la sévérité des réactions allergiques aux protéines du latex présentes dans les préservatifs.
