Abstract

L'invention concerne une composition et des méthodes qui comprennent un agent de blanchiment des dents et du nitrate de potassium afin de stimuler le blanchiment et de réduire la sensibilité des dents. Le nitrate de potassium renforce la blancheur des dents, une fois l'effet de l'agent de blanchiment passé, et diminue ou élimine la sensibilité des dents que provoque d'habitude l'agent de blanchiment. Pour un traitement prolongé des dents, on a découvert que des faibles quantités de nitrate de potassium (par exemple, 0,5 %), sont plus efficaces que des grandes quantités (par exemple, 3 %). Ces compositions dentaires (40) peuvent soit être appliquées directement sur les dents, soit être chargées dans un plateau dentaire, souple et adapté, à parois minces (50), lequel est placé contre les dents. Dans ce cas, les compositions dentaires (40) contiennent un agent gluant, tel que du carboxypolyméthylène, qui aide la composition à maintenir le plateau dentaire (50) sur les dents, sous l'effet des propriétés adhésives de la composition dentaire (40) au lieu du verrouillage mécanique du plateau (50) sur les dents. Ces compositions dentaires peuvent également comporter des agents anticarieux et antimicrobiens.
