Abstract
L'invention concerne un procédé amélioré de transport de matériaux ou de produits à réfrigérer ou à congeler, qui consiste à utiliser une bande à hélice transporteuse à plusieurs étages qui peut tourner de manière radiale et serrée dans une zone restreinte de façon à immerger lesdits matériaux ou produits dans un réservoir contenant un fluide de refroidissement et faire passer ledit fluide au-delà du matériau ou du produit. Les matériaux ou les produits peuvent subir ou ne pas subir une préparation chimique avant leur immersion, en fonction du type de matériaux ou de produits à réfrigérer ou à congeler. Le fluide de refroidissement, qui peut être un soluté de qualité alimentaire, passe au-delà du matériau à une vitesse et une température prédéterminées sensiblement constantes pour réfrigérer et congeler le matériau ou le produit. Le fluide de refroidissement se situe, de préférence, entre 20 ·C et -30 ·C, sa vitesse de passage au-delà du matériau étant d'environ 35 litres par minute par pied à travers une zone n'excédant pas 24 pouces de large et 38 pouces de profondeur. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, la vitesse de la bande à hélice transporteuse à plusieurs étages peut être réglée de façon à augmenter ou à diminuer la vitesse d'immersion des matériaux ou des produits dans le fluide de refroidissement. Tous les composants de la bande à hélice transporteuse à plusieurs étages peuvent être construits en matières plastiques de qualité alimentaire.
