Abstract

Une matrice variable M:N permet de moduler des signaux d'entrée audio M, chaque signal étant associé à une direction, pour les convertir en signaux de sortie audio N, chaque signal étant associé à une direction, N étant supérieur à M, M étant supérieur ou égal à 2, et N étant un nombre entier positif supérieur ou égal à 3. La matrice variable est commandée en réaction à des mesures : (1) des niveaux relatifs des signaux d'entrée, et (2) de la corrélation croisée des signaux d'entrée, de sorte qu'un champ acoustique généré par les signaux de sortie présente une image sonore compacte dans la direction primaire continue nominale des signaux d'entrée, lorsque les signaux d'entrée sont hautement corrélés, l'image s'étale du compact au large, lorsque la corrélation diminue et se divise progressivement en plusieurs images sonores compactes, chacune dans une direction associée à un signal d'entrée, lorsque la corrélation continue à diminuer pour devenir hautement non corrélée.
