Abstract

L'invention concerne une pièce rapportée d'outil, qui comprend un substrat (40), une couche (12) de matière abrasive (52) ultradure liée au substrat et présentant une arête de coupe (54) primaire de pièce rapportée d'outil, et une couche de protection (56) liée à la matière abrasive ultradure pour protéger l'arête de coupe primaire. La couche de protection constitue une arête de coupe (58) secondaire de la pièce rapportée d'outil, la profondeur de cette couche étant sélectionnée de manière à être suffisante pour protéger l'arête de coupe primaire pendant de opérations de coupe, de fraisage ou de forage à travers une première matière, p. ex. tubage ou chemisage de trou de sonde ou de puits, mais pour exposer l'arête de coupe primaire au contact d'une deuxième matière telle qu'un lit rocheux. L'invention concerne aussi un procédé de forage de trou horizontal ou coudé dans une formation rocheuse souterraine au moyen d'un train de tiges rotatif et d'un trépan incorporant une telle pièce rapportée d'outil.
