Abstract
L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant d'afficher le poids ou le coût de segments d'un article de forme irrégulière qui consistent à passer une barre de capteurs maintenue au-dessus d'une surface d'appui au-dessus de l'article en question posé sur la surface. La barre de capteurs, réalisée en format de poche compact, permet à l'opérateur de déplacer ladite barre selon divers mouvements linéaires et non linéaires au-dessus de la surface de l'article, la barre de capteurs se déplaçant quant à elle latéralement sur la surface de l'article, et les montants d'appui de la barre de capteurs restant en contact constant avec la surface d'appui. Le barre de capteurs contient au moins un capteur qui produit des signaux correspondant à la hauteur de l'article pendant que ladite barre traverse ce dernier. Parallèlement, un dispositif détecteur de déplacement produit des signaux correspondant au déplacement de la barre de capteurs par rapport à la surface d'appui. Ces signaux sont traités dans un processeur de signaux pour déterminer le volume d'un segment non coupé de l'article s'étendant derrière la barre de capteurs à des emplacements successifs. Chacune de ces déterminations de volume cumulatives peut être convertie en continu en valeurs de poids numériques sur la base du facteur de densité pour le type particulier d'article, les valeurs numériques de poids et de coût (fondées sur le poids) étant en permanence affichées à mesure que la barre de capteurs se déplace au-dessus de l'article, l'opérateur pouvant ainsi répondre aux demandes spécifiques du consommateur quant à la partie particulière voulue sur la base de l'aspect physique, du poids et du coût d'un article avant que celui-ci ne soit découpé.
