Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de réduire les taux sériques de proinsuline et de réduire les facteurs de risque d'athérosclérose chez des sujets atteints de diabète sucré de type 2. Ce procédé consiste à administrer de l'insuline d'une manière qui imite la réponse insuline de première phase liée au repas en utilisant une dose suffisante pour réduire les taux sériques de proinsuline. Dans certains modes de réalisation de l'invention, ce procédé d'administration d'insuline est commencé précocement dans la maladie. Dans cette imitation de la cinétique de première phase, les crêtes de taux sériques d'insuline peuvent être atteintes dans les 18 minutes environ suivant cette administration. Dans des modes de réalisation préférés de l'invention, les crêtes de taux sériques d'insuline peuvent être atteintes dans les 15, 12 ou 10 minutes environ suivant l'administration. Les taux sériques d'insuline retournent à leur ligne de base dans les deux heures environ suivant l'administration.
