Abstract

L'invention concerne une méthode pour accroître la capacité d'une surface d'eau de refroidir et de geler. La méthode consiste à prévoir une surface de substrat adaptée pour supporter une couche de glace et à utiliser une couverture flexible imperméable à l'eau sur le dessus de la surface de substrat qui supporte la couverture flexible, laquelle comprend au moins une première, une deuxième et une troisième couches. La première couche comprend un revêtement réfléchissant pour réfléchir la chaleur transmise par le substrat vers le substrat; la seconde couche, ou la couche intermédiaire, peut servir de couche isolante; enfin, la troisième couche, ou la couche supérieure, comprend un revêtement non réfléchissant pour réduire l'absorption de chaleur. Il s'agit ensuite d'installer une couche d'eau ou de glace sur le dessus de la couverture flexible imperméable, laquelle augmente ou réduit la température de l'eau sur la surface en réduisant la transmission de la température à travers la surface de substrat, alors que la surface ou la couche supérieure présente des propriétés non réfléchissantes pour réduire la transmission de chaleur.
