Abstract

Méthode et système permettant de diminuer le nombre d'opérations mathématiques requises dans le cadre du processus de décodage JPEG sans influencer considérablement la qualité de l'image affichée. Des modes de réalisation fournissent un processus de décodage JPEG efficace pour afficher une image plus petite que l'image originale, par exemple, sur l'écran d'un appareil portatif. Conformément à un aspect de la présente invention, cela est accompli par la diminution du traitement requis pour la déquantification et transformation discrète en cosinus inversée en réduisant efficacement la taille de l'image dans le domaine quantifié et transformé discrètement en cosinus avant la déquantification et la transformation discrète en cosinus inversée. Cela peut être réalisé, par exemple, en écartant les rangées et les colonnes d'indice de transformation discrète en cosinus factultatives avant la déquantification et la transformation discrète en cosinus inversée.
