Abstract

Appareil et méthode de construction d'un pilier d'appui en agrégat muni de couches successives compactées dans une matrice de sol; il comporte un tube creux de forme allongée, avec une extrémité avant en forme de tête inversée qui est enfoncée ou descendue dans la matrice du sol. Le tube creux comprend un mécanisme de relâchement d'agrégat de la tête inversée du tube à mesure que ce dernier est relevé progressivement à une hauteur prédéterminée. Le même tube creux est ensuite abaissé ou enfoncé par incréments progressifs prédéterminés afin de compacter verticalement l'agrégat libéré par couches minces successives, tout en forçant une partie de l'agrégat compacté sur le plan transaxial dans la matrice du sol, sur les parois de la cavité. Le processus peut être répété pour former une série de couches compactées successives composant un pilier d'agrégat, ou le processus peut comprendre la formation d'une seule couche pour le pilier en agrégat tout en densifiant les sols de la matrice et en exerçant sur ces sols une contrainte latérale.
