Abstract

L'invention porte sur une fibre optique microstructurée présentant une circularité accrue du mode en lumière guidée. La fibre optique microstructurée comprend une âme de guidage de lumière et une gaine primaire entourant l'âme, la gaine primaire présentant une pluralité de trous disposés dans des cellules unitaires hexagonales définissant un réseau de type Archimède. De préférence, l'âme est définie par une rupture dans un centre du réseau de type Archimède, la rupture étant caractérisée par une absence d'au moins l'une des cellules unitaires. Également, de façon préférée, chacune des cellules unitaires a sept trous disposés dans un hexagone centré. L'invention porte également sur un procédé de fabrication de la fibre optique microstructurée. Le procédé comprend les opérations consistant à fabriquer une préforme de fibre par empilement d'une pluralité de joncs autour d'une tige, chaque jonc ayant un nombre de trous disposés dans une cellule unitaire définissant un réseau de type Archimède, et à étirer ladite préforme de fibre en une fibre optique microstructurée.
