Abstract
La présente invention porte sur le retrait de minéraux hydrophiles des produits de bitume brut de sables bitumineux. L'eau circule dans une restriction dans un tuyau pour former une section contractée où la vitesse de l'eau est élevée et la pression est basse. Le produit de bitume chaud est introduit dans l'eau circulant à proximité de la section contractée pour disperser le produit de bitume dans l'eau. Une cible en aval de la section contractée crée une grande turbulence qui aide au transfert des particules de minéraux hydrophiles de la phase bitume vers la phase aqueuse. Des agents réactifs peuvent être ajoutés pour convertir les minéraux bimouillés et hydrophiles à devenir de l'eau mouillée et à être transférés vers la phase aqueuse. Ensuite, la dispersion est agglomérée dans un aglomérateur à rotation puis séparée par un filtre oléophile à ouverture tournante où le bitume adhère aux surfaces du filtre pour un retrait subséquent comme produit de bitume alors que l'eau et les particules minérales hydrophiles traversent les ouvertures du filtre. Des agents désémulsifiants peuvent être ajoutés à l'aglomérateur au besoin. L'air est retiré avant qu'un produit de mousse de bitume soit traité selon les méthodes de la présente invention.
