Abstract

Méthode permettant de récupérer les hydrocarbures visqueux, comme le bitume, dans une formation en subsurface. La méthode comprend la création dune barrière artificielle dans une zone souterraine au-dessus ou à proximité du dessus de la formation en subsurface. La barrière est en grande partie imperméable au flux de fluide. De plus, la méthode comprend la réduction de la viscosité des hydrocarbures visqueux et la mobilisation des hydrocarbures dans un pétrole lourd aisément fluidifiable par lajout de chaleur ou de solvant. Préférablement, le chauffage utilise plusieurs puits dinjection de chaleur. La méthode comprend en outre la production de pétrole lourd à laide dune méthode de production qui préserve lintégrité de la barrière artificielle.
