Abstract

La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un appareil pour un système à débit binaire adaptatif (300) qui comprend un segmenteur de contenu multimédia (304). Le segmenteur de contenu multimédia divise un contenu multimédia diffusé en continu en une pluralité de segments à durée variable. Selon la présente invention, un premier de la pluralité de segments à durée variable a une durée différente d'un deuxième de la pluralité de segments à durée variable. Dans ces conditions, un de la pluralité de segments à durée variable se termine à une discontinuité déterminée dans le contenu multimédia diffusé en continu. Le système peut aussi comprendre un encodeur (302) pour coder les segments à durée variable du contenu multimédia diffusé en continu. Le système comprend par ailleurs un serveur à débit binaire adaptatif (306) pour stocker et transmettre les segments à durée variable du contenu multimédia diffusé en continu.
