Abstract
L'invention concerne un système pour construire une structure résidentielle ou commerciale et/ou pour réhabiliter une structure existante, lequel système comprend une série d'éléments de construction coopérant avec des matériaux de construction classiques pour améliorer l'intégrité structurelle du bâtiment en cas de forces éoliennes destructrices, de forces de torsion et de forces sismiques, telles que celles qui sont communément associées aux ouragans et aux tornades. La résistance obtenue de la structure est augmentée au-delà de ce que peuvent supporter par eux-mêmes les matériaux de construction classiques. Les éléments coopèrent également avec des matériaux de construction classiques pour fournir une intégrité structurelle à un système autoporteur. Les éléments coopèrent également avec un élément d'étanchéité à l'eau secondaire pour minimiser et/ou empêcher des dégâts provoqués par l'eau de pénétration sur la structure dans le cas où le système d'étanchéité primaire est fragilisé.
