Abstract
Selon la présente invention, un manchon comprend un corps présentant une ouverture supérieure. Le corps recouvre une sonde d'oxymètre portatif ou une portion de la sonde. Le manchon présente une forme qui correspond approximativement à la sonde ou à la portion de sonde d'oxymètre, qui est recouverte du manchon. Le manchon présente une ouverture supérieure qui permet à un utilisateur de faire coulisser la sonde d'oxymètre dans le manchon. Le manchon est transparent au rayonnement émis et recueilli par la sonde d'oxymètre. Le manchon est constitué d'un matériau qui empêche les tissus du patient, le liquide, les virus, les bactéries, et les champignons d'entrer en contact avec les portions recouvertes de la sonde d'oxymètre. Le manchon laisse la sonde relativement stérile après l'utilisation de sorte que peu ou pas de purification de la sonde n'est nécessaire pour une utilisation ultérieure, tel que lorsque la sonde est recouverte d'un nouveau manchon inutilisé.
