Abstract

L'invention concerne un applicateur intracavitaire, tel qu'un applicateur vaginal, comprenant une coque extérieure allongée logeant sélectivement un élément d'insertion cylindrique allongé, chacun comportant une extrémité proximale ouverte et une extrémité distale fermée et incurvée. Un capuchon d'extrémité ferme sélectivement les extrémités proximales. Un trou traversant central s'étend sensiblement sur la longueur de l'élément d'insertion cylindrique. Des canaux de guidage extérieurs s'étendent sur la longueur et autour de l'extrémité distale incurvée de l'élément d'insertion cylindrique pour se terminer à proximité d'une ouverture du trou traversant central. Des trous de guidage et un trou traversant de capuchon d'extrémité sur le capuchon d'extrémité s'alignent sur et communiquent respectivement avec les canaux de guidage et le trou traversant central, lorsqu'ils sont assemblés pour former des voies d'introduction de sources radioactives et/ou d'autres instruments. La coque extérieure possède une paroi plus mince au niveau de son extrémité distale qu'au niveau de son côté pour permettre à l'élément d'insertion d'être plus proche de la zone de traitement cible. Un collier d'ancrage peut être utilisé pour fixer le positionnement de l'applicateur intracavitaire.
