Abstract
Selon ses modes de réalisation, la présente invention concerne une technologie radar permettant de détecter des caractéristiques ou des conditions dans un puits. Une unité radar comprenant un sous-système électronique et un sous-système d'antenne est positionnée en fond de trou dans le puits. L'unité radar est couplée de façon à recevoir de l'énergie d'un système de surface et à communiquer avec celui-ci. Le sous-système électronique génère des signaux RF qui sont fournis au sous-système d'antenne, générant des fronts d'ondes radar qui sont propagés vers des zones d'intérêt (par exemple, plus loin en fond de trou). Les fronts d'ondes radar peuvent être orientés électroniquement ou mécaniquement dans la direction souhaitée. Le sous-système d'antenne reçoit des signaux radar qui sont réfléchis vers l'unité par des caractéristiques ou des conditions dans le puits. Les signaux réfléchis reçus sont convertis en signaux électroniques qui sont interprétés par le sous-système électronique de l'unité radar ou par le système de surface pour identifier les caractéristiques ou conditions à l'origine des réflexions.
