Brake with jaws. The object of the present invention is a with jaw brake in which the jaws are supported against a fixed pivot by means of rods the position of which in the jaws is adjustable.
According to this invention, the inner end (the, each of said rods rests against an eccentric part of a pivoting axis placed transversely to this rod in the jaw.
To adjust the brake, all you have to do is turn the axes properly so that the rods are pushed back more or less by their eccentric parts, which can be done very easily and independently for the two jaws, without removing the wheel. on which the brake is placed.
The appended drawing represents by way of example an embodiment of a brake according to the invention, FIG. 1 is a half section and a half elevation of this brake, the drum of which is supposed to be removed.
Fig. 2 is a section taken on line A-A of FIG. 1. The brake shoes 1 and 2 rest against a fixed pivot 3 and swing apart on this pivot under the action of an olive cam 4 actuated by means of a crank and a linkage à in the usual way. #They are reminded to their inactivity position by springs 14.
In the end of each jaw adjacent to the pivot 3 can slide a rod 5 provided with a head 6 </ B > in which a housing 7 is provided for this pivot 3.
The other end of this rod 5 also comprises a housing 8 by which it rests on an eccentric part 9 of an axis < B> 10.
In this embodiment, the 10 axis is threaded and screwed into the jaw; it can be rotated from for example, to through an opening in the plate serving as a support for the pivot 3 and the components brake control.
It is therefore possible, without prior disassembly of any member, and this by simply turning the axis 10 in the necessary direction, to push the respective jaw more or less towards the periphery the brake drum (not shown) when the lining wear makes this maneuver necessary.
Only one end of the axis 10 can be threaded, as shown to in fig. 2, or the opposite end could also be.
Locking devices may be provided to immobilize this axis so as to prevent the vibrations from disturbing the adjustment.
The jaws may be provided with suitable gaskets, for example 12 fixed by rivets.
In the vicinity of the pivot 3, a mortise 13 is provided in the boss serving to guide the rod 5 so that rivets can be placed near this end of the jaw.
Of course, the shape of the 10 axis can be modified. For example, the eccentric part 9 could be of greater diameter than the axis itself or reinplaced by an eccentric attached to the body of this axis.
