Description

  Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Her  stellung von glasartigen Massen, die in der  Hauptsache aus     Tonerdekalksilikaten    bestehen,  und die allen Anforderungen der Technik in  weitgehendster Weise genügen. Es hat sich  nämlich herausgestellt, dass man eine voll  kommen stabile, chemisch ausserordentlich  träge;

  Alle in obiger Weise zusammengesetzten  Gemische entsprechen folgenden     Eutektika,     denen in Klammer jedesmal der Schmelz  punkt beigefügt ist    <I>Binare</I>     Euiektilra:          Ca0.A120s.2Si02;        0a0.Si02    (1299<B>0 0</B>)       Ca0.A120s.2Si02;        Si02    (1359  C)       2Ca0.        3Ca0.        5A1203   <B>(15520</B> C)       Ca0.        A120s        .23i02;        2Ca0.        A1208    .     Si02    (1385 C)       2Ca0.        A1203    .     Si02    ;     Ca0.        Si02   <B>(13160</B> C)       2Ca0.Si02;        5Ca0.3A1208    (<B>1</B>350<B>0</B> C).

A120a .8i02 sind be kannt.

  Process for the production of a vitreous enamel from calcium aluminate silicates. It is known that by melting natural rocks such. B. basalt, lime marl, etc. to produce vitreous pale. However, such masses are only in the rarest cases suitable for the manufacture of industrial products and for glastechni rule processing. They are usually not stable products and change when heated during glass processing. In most cases they are also not chemically indifferent and are easily attacked by external influences. The mechanical and physical properties of such melts also rarely meet the requirements of technology.

  The present invention relates to the manufacture of vitreous masses, which consist mainly of calcium aluminate silicates, and which meet all the requirements of technology in the most extensive manner. It has turned out that you get a completely stable, chemically extraordinarily inert;

   Almost completely indifferent and in every respect the requirements of the technology corresponding glass-like mass is obtained if a natural, according to the present process; Rock, which mainly consists of Ca0, A120s and Si02, is so compressed by adding at least one of these oxides and the mixture melts,

   that the vitreous enamel mass obtainable from this mixture has approximately the composition of a binary eutectic of the ternary system calcium oxide-aluminum oxide-silicon dioxide. The completion can be done so that a rock containing the oxides to be added is used.

  All mixtures composed in the above manner correspond to the following eutectics, to which the melting point is added in brackets <I> Binary </I> Euiektilra: Ca0.A120s.2Si02; 0a0.Si02 (1299 <B> 0 0 </B>) Ca0.A120s.2Si02; Si02 (1359 C) 2Ca0. A120 ". Si0s;

          2Ca0. Si02 (1545 'C) Ca0. A1203. 2Si02 j A1203 (15470 C) 2Ca0.A120s.Si02; Ca0.A120s (1 "012 C) 2Ca0. A120,3. 3i02;

       3Ca0. 5A1203 <B> (15520 </B> C) Ca0. A120s .23i02; 2Ca0. A1208. Si02 (1385 C) 2 Ca0. A1203. SiO2; Ca0. Si02 (13160 C) 2Ca0.Si02; 5Ca0.3A1208 (<B> 1 </B> 350 <B> 0 </B> C).

        All chemical and physical properties of the chemically pure eutectics of the ternary system Ca0. A120a .8i02 are known. (Compare GA Rankin: The Ternary System: Calcium Oxide-Alminium Oxide-Silicon Dioxide; Reports from the Laboratory for Geophysics of the Carnegie Institution in Washington, No. 25, Journal of Inorganic and General Chemistry, Volume 92, Pages 23-296 , 1915).

  Thus, according to the process, glass-like masses can be composed of calcium aluminate silicates, the melting point of which is between 12991 'C and 1552' C. In this way, depending on the technical purpose for which the new mass is to serve, one or the other eutectic can be used as a basis.

  It turned out that it is not necessary to use pure starting materials because minor impurities of a few percent of the melt with other silicates, such as iron or magnesium silicates and the like, only have a very slight effect on the chemical and physical properties of the melt. However, if such impurities are present, it must be ensured that an appropriate excess of S102 is added to the melt in order to convert all impurities that are not volatile into corresponding stable silicates.

   This excess of SiO2 must be determined empirically from case to case, depending on the type and amount of impurities in the starting materials.

  Lime, clay and quartz sand can be used as starting materials. However, it is better to trim one or more rocks to produce the new masses that already contain the above oxides as a main component in a favorable ratio. The desired composition is then completed with one or two of the above oxides. So-called lime marls are very suitable for this purpose, such as B. the Flensburg lime marl. This marl contains mainly approx.

         : '. 0.10o Ca0, approx. 9.8% A12 0.9, approx. 42.2% 8i02 and also approx. 4 / o other oxides and constituents that evaporate during melting.

  Similar to ordinary glasses, the molten mass is melted in a glass furnace, preferably in a tank furnace, and further processed using the usual methods of glass technology: pressed, cast or blown, depending on the special properties of the composition in question and depending on the object of manufacture . Processing does not present any particular difficulties because the new compound has excellent technical glass properties. It will be suitable for both industrial fabrication objects such. B ,. Wall panels, fire-resistant objects, insulation bodies, etc., as well as everyday objects such as bottles, vases, jugs, cups, plates, etc.

   The chemical resistance of the new bream is very high, so that it can also be used in the chemical industry and laboratories as an advantageous replacement for the glasses now used.

       Example: The eutectic Ca0.A1,03.28i02 is used to obtain a higher melting mass from Flensburg limestone marl; Si02 as a basis. Add 102 grams of quartz sand and 27.6 grams of clay to every 100 grams of the marl. The melted one. Cup is very resistant and softens at approx. 1400 o C.
