Balanced cylinder and piston machine with reciprocating movement with respect to each other. The present invention relates to a cylinder and piston machine having a reciprocating movement with respect to one another.
According to the invention, the cylinder and the uppermost are each connected to the button of a level, the two cranks, which are of equal length and each carry a counterweight, rotating around axes which are stationary in relation to one another. to the other and being coupled to rotate at the same speed in the opposite direction.
Embodiments of the object of the invention are shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a schematic view of a first embodiment; Fig. 2 shows in longitudinal section a compressed air motor, according to said diagram, slightly modified; Fig. 3 is a partial axial section of this machine, on another plane; Fig. 4 shows the cylinder and the piston in section along line 4-4 of FIG. 2; Fig. 5 shows a section of a compressed air motor, according to a diagram constituting a variant of the diagram FIG. l; The thread. 6 is a schematic view of another embodiment, and FIG. 7 shows a variant thereof.
The machine shown in fig. 1 com carries a crank m connected to a piston a by means of a rod b provided with a counterweight p in such a way that the center of pivoting coincides exactly with the center of gravity of the entire piston of the rod and counterweight.
A similar system connected to the cylinder c, and comprising the rod b ', the counterweight p' and the crank m ', completes the machine'. The <I> m m '</I> cranks turn in opposite directions around the axes o o'. When the buttons qq 'of the two <I> m m' </I> cranks reach their maximum spacing, the piston in its stroke in the cylinder will have generated the maximum volume, and when the two buttons <I> q q '< / I> reach their maximum approximation, the volume contained in the cylinder is reduced to the minimum necessary (compression chamber or harmful space).
In order to ensure the synchronism of the movement in opposite directions of the two crank shafts o o ', these two shafts are connected to each other by a gear i i, the toothed wheels of which are of the same diameter key, or by another equivalent device.
It is clearly seen that the piston a with its rod b and its counterweight p forms a rigid system which, when the engine is running, is endowed with a movement in which the trajectories of all the points of the system are equal circles, the system always keeping itself parallel to itself. We also see that to always keep the same orientation for it, if the movement is uniform, no effort is required, since the accelerations of all the points of the system are equal and have the same direction, and the system is rotated in its center of gravity.
The resultant of the fictitious acceleration forces of said system is a centrifugal force of constant intensity, always passing through the axis of the crank.
This centrifugal force can always pull compensated by a suitably chosen mass n placed on the extension of the crank q-o.
What has been said about the system: piston a, rod b, counterweight p, also applies to the system: cylinder c, rod b 'against weight p', the centrifugal force generated being compensated by the mass m '. In the device described, the alter native oscillations which occur in all the known arrangements of the cylinder-udder system system, except those in which a crank button moves in a slide, are avoided.
In fig. 2, 3 and 4 showing a compressed air engine arranged as described above, capital letters have been used to designate the parts corresponding to those indicated by lowercase letters in FIG. 1.
The piston A1-A2 is double and is pi voted on eccentric M integral with the shaft 0; the two pistons slide in the cylinders C1 and C2 and the assembly therefore constitutes a two-cylinder engine. The crank connected to the cylinders C1 and C2 is fixed on the shaft 0'1; on the end of the two ar bers 0 and 01 are keyed the toothed wheels I-I1 both engaged with the double toothed wheel 7 meshing by its internal toothed crown with the wheel I and by its external toothed ring with the wheel I1, which turns the two shafts in opposite directions. The crank button of the shaft 0 represented by the eccentric M constitutes at the same time the motor distributor.
In fact, in the pistons are formed the conduits R1 and R2 which bring the chambers of the cylinders into communication with the channels S1 and S2 provided in the eccentric, these channels terminating in the conduits T1 and T2 formed in the 'tree 0 and communicating one with a tank at. compressed air, to: tra towards H, and the other with the atmosphere.
To obtain the balancing, the cylinders C1 and C_- are provided with a counterweight Pl which is used so that the center of gravity of the system falls into the crank; to shafts 0 and <B> 01 </B> are attached the counterweights N-N and Y, -Ni which serve to balance the centrifugal forces produced by the cylinders and the pistons.
Fig. 5 shows another embodiment of a compressed air motor.
In this engine, to eliminate the counterweight Pl, which in the previous engine serves to balance the weight of the cylinders Cl and Cz, and thus reduce the dimensions of the engine, the shaft <B> 0, </ B > until it coincides with the shaft 0, so that the axis of rotation of the crank M, to which the cylinders C and Cl are articulated, also passes through the center of gravity of the cylinders.
As in the engine previously described, the double piston A and Al is carried by the eccentric 1f1, so the two pis tons slide in the cylinders C and Cl ports by the crank constituted by the eccentric that Ml fixed on the tree 0l. In this engine, the conduits made in the eccentric M carried by the shaft 0 also form, together with the conduits R and R1 and the conduits T and T, of the shaft 0, the distribution system of the pressurized air.
The balancing of the centrifugal force due to the mass of the cylinders is effected by the counterweight N ,, the balancing of the centrifugal force due to the mass of the pistons is effected by the two counterweights <I> N N. </ I>
On the shafts 0 and 0, are fixed the toothed wheels I and I ,, which, by means of other toothed wheels which do not appear in the drawing, force the two shafts to turn with the same angular speed and in opposite directions.
A machine of this kind, in order to obtain a more uniform engine torque, may consist of several groups of cylinders, the cranks of which are offset by a suitable angle.
The arrangement described can also be applied to steam and operating engines, as well as to pumps, compressors, etc.
One or the other of the two elements, cylinder or piston, may also be stationary, without the rotary movement of the parts indicated in fig. 1 varies. An embodiment in which the cylinders are immobile is shown in fig. 6. If the mass of the part comprising the pistons and the rod which connects them is assumed to be concentrated in Q '(which is admissible if its center of gravity lies parallel to the axis of the cylinders which passes through Q') and if the counterweight N 'carried by the crank 0' Q 'connected to the pistons is chosen such that the center of gravity of the system formed by the mass assumed to be concentrated in Q \ and by that of the counterweight N' falls into 0 ', the counterweight N 'carried by the crank 0', Q ', connected to the fixed system with respect to the cylinders,
can be chosen such that the center of gravity of the machine remains stationary. The machine thus balanced is moreover exempted from any effect of acceleration of the masses (as directly shown in fig. 6) only if the center of gravity of the rigid system forming the connecting rod 0 '0' is at a suitable distance, which depends on the distance 0 '0', to the right of point 0 ',. We see that when the machine is in action, the shafts 0 'and 0' move along circular paths having for radius the distance 0'1 Q ', = 0 Q' and that the point Q 'where the ma level 0 'Q' is rotated at all the pis tons rotates with respect to 0 ', by the effect of the gear <I> I' </I> and <I> I ',, </I> with the same speed, but in the opposite direction to that of the rotation of point 0 ', around Q' ,.
The two movements, when they are combined, oblige the point Q 'to perform an alternating movement on the straight line representing the axis of the cylinder.
As in the previous device, we can make the 0 'tree coincide with the 0' tree, and then we will only have the two my levels <I> Q'-0 '</I> and 0'-Q', (fig. 7) and the counterweights N 'N' ,, the gear being formed in this case by a toothed wheel I 'meshing with the inner toothed ring of the wheel I' ,.
