Description

EMI0005.0050

The object of the invention is a measuring device for polyphase circuits comprising a combination, on the one hand, of a rotary integration device whose axis, constantly urged towards its starting point, describes angles at, a speed proportional to the sum of one of the algebraic powers of each of the currents in the line, and, in one direction only, drives a device indicating the maximum values, on the other hand, single-phase counters each actuating a positive device rotary describing angles at a speed proportional to the power delivered by the circuits and requesting an average power indicator which is normally blocked,

finally, a device with a clockwork movement causing at regular intervals> the release of the average power indicators provided that the integration device simultaneously indicates a maximum value, then recalling the latter as well as the rotary devices actuated by the comp Single-phase tors at their starting point at the precise moment which limits integration. The aim of the invention is to make it possible to establish a judicious pricing formula by means of the various factors which may intervene in the establishment of this formula and which depend on the ways in which the energy has been distributed or consumed in particular. given time.

In the known systems, it is possible, especially with so-called "maximum indicator" meters, to know at the same time as the total energy used by the consumer, the maximum average power by '/ 4. hour, 1 / z hour etc., according to which this energy was distributed. In this case, it is possible to price the electrical energy taking into account this maximum average power.

However; if we want to bring into play other elements, for example the mean cosine of the offset angle <B> (p </B> of the intensity on the electro-motive force, it is necessary to use 'additional recording devices or to use other meters such as "gilo-Volt-Ampère -sinus y:" meters.

The readings and the factors which must intervene in establishing the pricing formula and which, by means of a device according to the invention, cri can obtain or determine, are for example the following: 1 The total energy consumed.

2 a) In the case of a non-inductive circuit, the average distribution of this energy in the different phases: b) In the case of an inductive circuit with balanced phases, the average power factor (average cos @O ) according to which this energy was consumed.

3 The average power used at the time when the maximum current is supplied to the consumer, this maximum current being that recorded by successive integrations during a given time, chosen at will, for example 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes.

4 a) In the case of an inductive black circuit, the distribution of this average power in the different phases when the maximum current is used.

       b) In the case of an inductive circuit, with balanced phases, the power factor recorded at the moment when the maximum current (as it has just been defined in 3) is consumed.

5 The value of this maximum current. These results can for example be obtained as follows: The current first passes through the coils of one or more devices operating on the type of an electric induction motor and whose motor torque is proportional at each instant to the sum of the squares of the intensities. If desired, we could make this torque proportional to the sum of the currents, but this would unnecessarily complicate the device.

The armature axis of this system controls at equal and successive time intervals, by means of electrical contacts or, if desired by a mechanical device brought into play by a clock movement, an appropriate mechanism such as , that a so-called integration axis describes angles with a speed which is at each moment proportional to the sum of the squares or possibly of the first powers of the intensities in the given time and controls, during each new maximum of l 'angle thus describes an indicator axis.

This is the indication of: The value of the maximum current.

The current then passes through the current coils of one or more single-phase meters of a known system, the timers of which record values whose algebraic sum represents: The total energy consumed.

In addition to the timer, the axis of each single-phase counter controls at the same equal and successive time intervals and synchronously with the mechanism of the first device, a mechanism such that a so-called integration axis describes angles whose algebraic sum is proportional to the power and constantly requests an indicator axis which is only released when the value <the sum of the squares of the intensities or possibly of the first powers of the intensities is maximum. The algebraic sum of all the indications gives: The average power during the given time used when the maximum current is supplied to the consumer.

With the help of these readings, it is possible to determine either by calculation or by using an abacus the other factors involved in the pricing formula.

The accompanying drawing shows schematically, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention applied to a three-phase current distribution.

In this drawing, 1 and 1 'are two identical single-phase meters of a known system. The counter 1 comprises an inducted disc 2 mounted on an axis 3 driving a worm 4 which controls a roller timer 5. In addition, by means of gears 6 and 7 and a pinion 8 mounted on the axis of the gear 7, the same worm drives him axis 14 said integration, by means of a toothed wheel 9, and dries up that a spring 10 maintains a lever 11, which is provided with a armature 13, separated from an electro 12.

Uri spiral spring 15 fixed to the frame by one of its ends 16 constantly tends to bring the integration axis 14 into a determined position; this spiral spring 15 facilitates the return to zero of the integration axis 14; the latter carries a cam 17 with a stopper 18 on which acts a pusher 19 controlled by an arm 20 of the lever 11. The integration axis 14 also carries a spiral spring 21 through which it is connected at 22 to an arm 23 integral with an indicator pin 24. The latter carries a plate 25 and ends with a needle 26 which can move along a graduation inscribed on a plate 28.

The indicator pin 24 is normally immobilized by means of its plate 25 by the fact that the latter is clamped between an adjustable stop 27 and the end of a lever 29 returned by a spring 30. The plate 25, and consequently the indicator pin 24 can be released by the action of an electro 31 on an armature 32 which is integral with the lever 29.

The counter 1 'comprises the same elements as the counter 1, these being designated in the drawing by the same reference figures but assigned an index.

On the other hand, a disc 33 similar to the disc of an ordinary single-phase meter and whose axis 34 is maintained in the same way, can toürricr in the two gaps of two sheet cores 35 and 36. These two cores carry respectively windings 37 and 38. One of the ends 39, respectively 40, of each of the cores 35 and 36 is split; in each of the slots is housed a short-circuit ring 41, respectively 42, made of good current conductor material. The screws 43 and 44 of these rings serve as fixing screws and adjusting screws. A magnet 45 exerts a torque opposing the torque to which the disc 33 is subjected.

The axis 34 drives through the intermediary of a worm 46 and gears 47, 48 and 49 a pinion 50 which in turn drives an integration axis 56 through a wheel toothed 51 when a spring 52 maintains a lever 53 in - the drawn position; this lever equipped with armature 55 can be attracted by an electro 54.

On the integration axis 56 is fixed, with the interposition of an insulating ring 57, an arm 58 and a spiral spring 59 which constantly urges it towards its starting point. This spiral spring 59 is fixed on an insulating part 60, so that with the arm 58 it is isolated from the assembly.

An indicator pin 61, located along the length of the pin 56 but isolated from it, carries a bent piece 62. The latter can come into contact with the arm 58 and be pushed by it so as to make the pin execute. indicator 61, the movements of the integration axis 56. The axis 61 ends with a needle 63 which moves along a graduation inscribed on a plate 64.

In order to prevent the indicator pin 61 from going back, and further to establish good contact between it and the plate 64, the indicator pin 61 carries a wiper 65.

Finally, titi axis 66, driven by a clockwork movement not shown in the drawing, drives in its rotation two cams 67 and 68 made of insulating material. On the cam 67 rub two spring blades 69 and 70. The blade 69 is a little shorter than the blade 70 and furthermore mounted in an adjustable manner. On the cam 68 rub two res leaves 71 and 72. The blade 72 is longer than the wool 71 and also mounted in an adjustable manner. The assembly is included in such a way that when the short blades 69 and 71 leave the contacts 75, respectively 74, to strike other contacts 73, respectively 76, the long blades 70 and 72 remain a few seconds longer. contact with the contacts 75, respectively 74.

The operation of these organs is as follows: The two single-phase meters 1 and l 'are connected as usual to measure power, that is to say according to the method of two wattmeters, and their timers 5 record energy consumed. Before reaching the single-phase meters, the currents <I> h </I> and La pass through the windings 37, 38 respectively carried by the cores 35 and 36.

The fields created by h and La produce induction currents in the disc 33 and in the short-circuit rings 41 and 42, and create torques proportional to 1i, respectively to I =. The disc 33 is therefore subjected to a torque proportional to Ii + Zâ. We know that, thanks to the antagonistic couple of the magnet 45, the number of revolutions of the disc is proportional to fô (Ii -, - 12) dt.

Via the worm 46, the gears 47, 48 and 49 and the pinion 50, the movement of the axis 34 is transmitted to the toothed wheel 51 carried by the integration axis 56, and that that the spring 52 keeps the lever 53 away from the electro 54.

The axis 66 driven by the clockwork movement, for example makes one revolution every 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, and drives the cams 67 and 68. When, as shown in the diagram, the end of the blade 69 has abandoned the end of the cam 67, the blade 69 falls on the contact 73 and the network current is brought from a wire 77 branched on Ii <I> to </I> a wire 78 connected to the plate 64. The current passes through the intermediary of the wiper 65 to a contact 79 fixed on the elbow piece 62.

If at this moment the integration axis 56, and consequently the -arm 58, have described an angle large enough for the bent piece 62 to make contact with the arm 58, the current passes through the latter and, through the intermediary of the spiral spring 59, will excite the two electrodes 31 and 31 'which then attract the armatures 32 and 32', thus releasing the plates 25 and 25 'which normally, as has been said, are immobilized; the indicator pins 24 and 24 ', urged by the spiral springs 21 and 21', then immediately take the same angular position as the integration pins 14 and 14 '.

If, contrary to what has just been assumed, the cam 67 having established contact at 73, the contact at 79 is not made, the electros 31 and 31 'are not excited, and the plates 25 and 25' of the indicator axes 24 and 24 'remain stationary.

But a few seconds after the blade 69 has fallen on the contact 73, the cam 67 abandons the blade 70; the contact is then interrupted erg 75 and the springs 30 and 30 'again immobilize the plates 25 and 25', and consequently the needles 26 and 26 '.

On the other hand, the cams 67 and 68 are wedged on their axis so that immediately after the cam 67 has dropped the blade 70, the end of the cam 68 abandons the blade 71; the latter then suddenly collapses on contact 76 and closes the circuit which supplies the electrics 12, 12 'and 54. The two armatures 13 and 13', thus due to the armature <B> 55 </B> are then attracted simultaneously and consequently the levers 11, respectively 11 'and 53 act so that the pinions 8 and 8' leave the toothed wheels 9 and 9 'and the pinion 50 leaves the toothed wheel 51. Immediately, the spring in spiral 59 and the pushers 19 and 19 ', aided by the two springs 15 and 15', simultaneously bring the integration axes 56, 14 and 14 'back to their starting point.

However, for the one of the two single-phase meters which records the energy corresponding to the instantaneous power Il '<I> - </I> LI cos (ç9 -i- 30), as this power, can be positive or negative, it It is essential that the integration axis 14 'can move to the left or to the right of its starting position and that it can return there exactly, whatever the position it has communicated to the axis 24 'indicator. It is also necessary that it can return to it whatever the stress it undergoes in one or the other direction by the spiral spring 21 '.

In order to allow this displacement to the left or to the right under equal stress, it could be sufficient to choose a spiral spring 15 'stronger than the spring 21', but despite this difference in force the integration axis 14 'would not return exactly to zero. It follows that in order to return axis 14 'to zero, it is not possible (as for axis 14 which must in general only integrate positive values and therefore only rotate in one direction) serve only as springs, but it is essential to add pushers 19 and 19 'which, when the electros 12-12' act by the arms 20-20 'of the levers 11-11' on the cams 17-17 'to return the axes 14-14' to the starting points.

It will be noted, moreover, that these pushers are sufficient on their own, and that the springs 15 and 15 'could without disadvantage be eliminated.

As soon as the few seconds necessary for the return to the starting point of the axes 56, 14 and 14 'have elapsed, the end of the cam 68 abandons the blade 72 which then abruptly leaves the contact 74, cutting the current to the electrics 12, 12 'and 54. The spells 10, 10' and 52 return their respective levers 11, 11 'and 53 to their original positions and the pinions 8, 8' and 50 drive during a new determined time T, the wheels 9, 9 'and 56.

The same operations are thus reproduced at regular time intervals T, while the operation of the various electros between two successive times T lasts only the few seconds necessary to determine. successively on the one hand, the release of the indicator axes 14 and 14 'in the event of a new maximum, on the other hand, the return to zero of all the integration axes.

From the above, it follows that the integration axes 14, 14 ′ traverse during each time T respectively angles proportional to: .f ô Wi di and .f ô W2 dt, while the integration axis 56, and consequently the arm 58 traverses during these same times T angles proportional to: #f T (1, a -f <I> - </I> 1,2) dt.

When this last integral passes through a greater value than the preceding ones, the arm 58 meets the elbow piece 62 and, pushing it with it, it maintains the contact at 79 until it has reached its maximum position obtained at the end of time T. At this moment, the plates 25 and 25 'being made free, the indicator axes 24 and 24' can respectively take the positions corresponding to the values f <I> ô </I> M dt and, ('ô Wa dt of the time which has just elapsed and which corresponds to the maximum of (Ii -f- Ia)

which is indicated by needle 63.

The present device therefore makes it possible to determine 1 The total energy consumed which is equal to fo '-ffi dt + .fô Ws dt, by adding the indications of the two corresponding timers. These indications are moreover exact for the inductive circuit or not and for loads equally distributed or not.

2 cc) If it is a non-inductive circuit; the average distribution of this energy in the different phases (the electromotive force E being assumed to be sufficiently constant).

  Indeed, the timers of the two counters register respectively: ô .â Wi dt = fE Ii cos (So - 30) dt and f .'_ W2 dt = <B> <I> fo '</I> </ B > <I> E </I> 12 cos (So - + - 30) dt, but since E is supposed to be sufficiently constant, and that in the case of the non-inductive circuit cos # 9 = 1,

   these expressions become
EMI0005.0050
These two expressions clearly show that we can obtain the distribution of energy. according to the phases.

  b) In the case of an inductive circuit with balanced phases, the average power factor according to which the energy has been consumed, deducing it by means of the preceding indications of the expression
EMI0005.0051
If we do not want to do any calculation, we can immediately obtain the mean cos v by using an appropriate abacus in which the values of fo 'Wi dt are plotted on the abscissa and that of fâ W2 dt on the ordinate and on which are plotted curves of equal cos <B> (p. </B> 3 The average power used has rno-

where the maximum current is supplied to consumption by integration during the time T, by making the algebraic sum of the indications of the two hands 26 and 26 'of the indicator axes 24 and 24', that is to say the sum: J 'ô II, dc + J'0 iv. dt and dividing it by T.

Ott will notice moreover that T being constant the dials in front of which the hands 26 and 26 'move are graduated in Watts yes in its multiples.

<I> 4 a) </I> The distribution of this maximum average power in the different phases, in the case of a non-inductive circuit, takes place when the aforesaid power is used according to the indications of the hands 26 and:. '6' according to the expressions
EMI0006.0015
    that we deduce as it has just been explained in number 2, namely from: J'TO IV, <B><I>di</I> </B> and (T <I> 1, V. -, <B> dl. </B> </I>

  b) The power factor cos éy, in the case of an inductive circuit with balanced phases, measured when the maximum current is consumed, deduced from the indications j '<B> T IV, </B> dt and J' T UV 2 dt of needles 26 and 26 'according to the expression:
EMI0006.0028
For this purpose, one makes use, if one wishes it, of the abacus quoted above which gives directly the corresponding cos co.

On the other hand, the needle 63 indicates the value of the expression J'oT (IÎ + - I2) di.

It should be noted that the maximum current can be obtained as follows: a) For a non-inductive circuit using the expressions recalled in 4 and which show that the values of the currents Ii and I. and therefore Is can be obtained.

  b) For an inductive circuit with balanced phases of the indications of 3 and 4, in the expression
EMI0006.0040
<I> EI </I> cos co of the three-phase power: Indeed, the total value of this expression is deduced from the total in question has 3 while cos @ is obtained as indicated in 4, when we admit E sufficiently constant.

It should be noted that, as in known maximum counters, ort can periodically reset the hand 63 and the needles 26 and 26 'to zero by hand. For this purpose, a button can be provided on the glass of the meter cover.

It goes without saying that the device described can be connected <B> or </B> lion by means of current and voltage transformers.

The parts of the device which has just been described could moreover be mounted on a common base in order to constitute a single device.
