- Production Of Liquid Hydrocarbon Mixture For Refining Petroleum (AREA)
Description
Product for the destruction of phylloxera and process for its preparation. The subject of the invention is a -product for the destruction of phylloxera, consisting of a liquid containing at least one hydrocarbon and sulfur.
For the preparation of this product, a crude product from the distillation of coal tar, for example that known commercially under the name of heavy oil, and which contains several hydrocarbons, can be employed.
To avoid carrying in the ground with this oil, cresols, phenols and phy- ridic bases which are harmful to the plants and generally contained in the crude products of the distillation of coal tar, the substance mentioned is preferably subjected beforehand. washing and rec tification .which have the effect of removing any acid reaction.
To increase the radius of action of the product and facilitate its application, its emulsibility in water can be increased, which makes it possible to dilute it in an appropriate quantity of water and makes its use more practical and less costly. cQllt of treatment.
For the preparation of an anti-phyleric product of this type, one can proceed as follows: The following are introduced into a washing apparatus: 100 parts by weight of heavy oil; 50 parts by weight of water; 3 parts by weight of potassium hydrate, and stirred for half an hour, then left to stand for six hours.
The oil is separated and then placed in another washing apparatus by adding: 50 parts by weight of water; 5 parts by weight of industrial sulfuric acid.
It is stirred for half an hour and left to stand for six hours, after which the oil thus washed is removed and placed in a third washing apparatus, adding a large quantity of water.
Stir again and, after a six hour rest period, the oil is introduced into a boiler where sulfur is added while gently heating; a soap of resin or fatty acids is then added until, by pouring a drop of the final liquid into a glass of water, said drop is completely emulsified without leaving drops of oil in suspension.
The product obtained as indicated is completely neutral and free of cresols, phenols and phyride bases and is suf ficiently rich in sulfur and easily emulsified so that it can be added to large amounts of water to be obtained. distributed - conveniently and easily come into contact with the roots.
The proportions indicated above can naturally vary between wide limits depending on the composition of the oil used as the starting material.
To make the oil neutral, we could adopt, instead of potassium hydrate, other substances such as causative soda, carbonates, ammonia, etc., and instead of sulfuric acid, we could use other acids (hydrochloric acid, nitric acid etc.).
