Process for obtaining a green vat dye. It is known that a green hüpen dye is obtained when dibenzane and thrones are treated with nitrating agents. Due to its fastness properties, the dye has become very important, although its shade is a muted green.
It has now been found that the dye obtainable by nitrating dibenzanthrone can be separated into a dye with a clear, green shade and a greenish gray dye if the crude nitration product is dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid and precipitated by adding a diluent.
The green dye thus obtained differs from the raw product not only in its more valuable, significantly clearer shade but also in its higher color strength.
The dye separated from the mixture is characterized by its behavior towards aluminum chloride. After six hours of heating to <B> 1801 </B> with the same weight of aluminum chloride in 20 parts ..] en nitrobenzene, it still produces a green color that turns black when chlorinated, while the starting material in the same treatment in a blue-gray. passes from fairly good to practically complete fastness to chlorine.
For the process, both the nitration product of crude dibenzanthrone obtained by melting benzanthrone with potash, as well as pure dibenzanthrone obtained therefrom by transferring or the pure dibenzanthrone obtained by melting with potash and aniline or other diluents according to Schweizer Patent No. 70904 immediately obtained dibenzanthrone go out.
