Description
Liquid for absorbing, transferring and storing heat. The main difficulty for the remote transmission of heat, from a generator to a point of consumption, has until now been: to find heat carriers which are capable of absorbing large amounts of heat without the formation of steam and without decomposition.
A known type of heat storage and heat transfer consists in heating a pipe system, which is completely or partially filled with water, with coal or some other heating medium.
For low temperatures and smaller amounts of heat, the type of heat storage and heat transfer described above using water has given satisfactory results.
However, if it is a question of storing large amounts of heat at high temperatures, water filling is no longer suitable, since water boils at a relatively low temperature and dangerously high pressures occur, which endanger the operational safety of the system to a great extent. The purpose of the present invention is to avoid the disadvantages of water filling described above.
Serves to absorb, transfer and store heat; according to the invention, a liquid that contains aliphatic, saturated hydrocarbons that are free from. at 0 C are no longer liquid paraffins and whose boiling point is not below <B> 170 '</B> C. Unsaturated compounds and other accompanying substances in the starting material are expediently removed by cleaning with sulfuric acid and lye.
Iron and metals are in no way attacked by this low-pressure filling.
One; The main advantage of the subject matter of the invention is that if it is heated in a closed vessel to about 2.00 to 220 ° C when using, for example, petroleum, there is still no pressure whatsoever. B> C it is only about 5 to 6 atmospheres.
