Method and apparatus for obtaining three-color photographic images. The present invention a. for object a process for obtaining photogr: ph i.ques trichromatic images and an apparatus for the rni.-e implementation of said process.
It is shown, by way of example and matically dried, in FIG. 1 the accompanying drawing, an apparatus allowing the implementation of: the claimed method.
In: this figure, a single lens 0 having an appropriate focal length and draw is mounted on a chamber in which three: Cl C. Cr, frames can be introduced.
The focus is on the directly illuminated CI frame. The emerging beam passes through, before reaching the plate contained in the frame C1, a filter M, placed at 45 on the axis of the emerging beam and formed of a glass plate strictly flat and covered on the side of the The objective of a red-orange colored varnish, the CI plate being sensitive to this color. This part: of the room is closed by a: opaque screen E, so that the filtered light beam passes, but no reflection or diffusion is possible.
Light rays not passing through the filter will be reflected in the. : direction of the chassis Q #: and produce an image there which is in focus by: construction since it is in Cl.
Before reaching the plate contained. in the frame C2, the light beam passes through a second green colored filter JIL embedded in an opaque screen E2 which plays the same role as the screen El.
The screen E #, is placed at 45 on the axis of the light beam; there will therefore again be filtering and reflection; the. plate: in C. will receive the green radiations to which they are sensitive -and the reflected radiations will come back forward hitting a third plate located in the frame C, mounted as C., so that the point is made by construction for him: as for C2 by focusing on Cl.
The plate at C3,: extra-sensitive, will record all of the violet rays, that is to say almost the only ones that remain in the doubly reflected beam, deprived of two other: fundamental colors. It will therefore be unnecessary to select them using a purple filter screen. It is therefore conceivable that we will obtain in the apparatus described by a single exposure three ideitic clichés impressed by the three primary colors empirically accepted as necessary and sufficient.
It is advisable to have a setting for the filters. Al, AI_ and for C_ C frames: in order to achieve rigorously. the adjustment in the workshop, which will obviously (-n function of the thicknesses: filters 31 , AI_.
The uniformity of the impression of the clicliés (-st obtained by proportioning the intensities of the screens Al, AI_ -au: coefficient of actinisin of the plates in C, and C_ and also taking eonipte .de that of the plate in C3.
To adjust the exact position of the mi- one can make use of the following device, the section of which can be seen in FIG. 3: In the base of the device D, along the two obliques where the mirrors must be located, there is a groove 1 receiving the. edge of the filter holder screen 2; an identical groove 3 exists in the ceiling P of the appliance. One of the walls of the groove 1 is formed by a rubber blade .l. The other wall is crossed by screws 5.
The action of the screws to compress the elastic strip 4 makes it possible to modify in the very small proportions which are necessary the position of the plane 2 in space.
In the screen?, A perfectly erected beat 6 receives the filter 7, simply by light springs 8.
In possession of these pictures, we go there. reproduction as follows, for example: The image in C.;, obtained without a screen, will be printed on bromide paper and turned yellow by known methods. The other two images obtained in C, and C_ are placed cli, each in a frame D, D_ having lateral pressure screws and being able to be superimposed by means of a frame with wing nuts with adjustment, as seen in fi-. 2.
The -D frame carries an L blade on one side, with two or three circular holes 0 ,; this blade is mounted with S hinges, on IL, eliassis D ,.
The frame D, carries on the side a blade L_ ribiîdement fixed on its edge and on this 1 <groin two or three threaded rods T_ which can pass in the orifices: 0 ,; eye nuts the I '@ allow -râec a fairly large base to operate an exact tightening of the. wool L, on the. blade L_.
The orifices 0, are wide enough for there to be a clearance between their edge and the rods T_.
The plates impressed at C, and C @ being fixed in these frames D, D_, we can, by sliding one on the other, rigorously align the inia-es , with the emulsified surfaces facing,
face. We will iniirio-bi- lis. erisile the eli <ssis by tightening the screws _VDn raising the eli frame D ,, we can insert between the plates a sensitive double-sided wire, as there is to polish the radiography,
but the support of which will have been soaked in an inaclinical bath.
We will be able to. therefore by insolation on one side, then on the other side, obtain two identical and marked proofs, and this as many times as desired.
These imabi, s will be turned one in red, the other in blue (complementary to the shade of the filters L ', DY), by means of cuvettes of which the film forms the background. This film or its sides will then be transferred onto the yellow paper drawn at the beginning and. we will get. at the end of the day, the trichrome test is exactly identified and as many times as you want.
The assembly shown in fig. 2 can of course be replaced # by another one by which -to obtain the same result with. sliding: from one photo to another and blocking; this him of the. figure is nevertheless reniarquable by its simplicity.
