  Verfahren zur Verhütung von Kesselsteinbildung.    Den Gegenstand des Hauptpatentes  Nr. 103891 bildet ein Verfahren zur Ver  hütung von Kesselsteinbildung, welches da  durch gekennzeichnet ist, dass dem Kessel  wasser wasserlösliche Harze zugesetzt wer  den. Es hat sich nun herausgestellt, dass zur  Hervorrufung der angestrebten Wirkung  nicht nur sogenannte wasserlösliche, d. h.  direkt im Wasser emulgierbare oder kolloi  dallösliche Harze, wie Gummiharze, z. B.  Olibanum, geeignet sind. Vielmehr kann die  gleiche Wirkung dadurch erzielt werden, dass  dem Kesselwasser Harze, die nicht ohne wei  teres in Wasser emulgierbar oder kolloidal  löslich sind, im Gemisch mit geringen Men  gen von kolloiden Zusätzen. zugefügt werden.

    Dank dieser Zusätze wird das Harz in hei  ssem Wasser emulgierbar oder kolloidallöslich  gemacht, wodurch es in annähernd gleicher  Art wie zum Beispiel ein Gummiharz die  Kesselsteinbildung verhütet und die Ablö  sung bereits gebildeten Kesselsteines herbei  führt.  



  Als geeignete Zusätze kommen insbeson  dere Seifen, Gummiarten oder Pflanzen-    schleim in Betracht. So wirkt zum Beispiel  ein Gemisch von Kolophonium mit 4% Harz  seife ebenso gut wie Olibanum. Auch ein  inniges Gemisch von 2 Teilen Kolophonium  oder Dammarharz mit 1 Teil     Gummiarabi-          cum,    Tragantgummi oder Agar-Agar lässt  sich mit Vorteil zu dem gleichen Zweck ver  wenden, wenn auch Olibanum dieser Mi  schung in der Wirkung etwas überlegen ist.

An intimate mixture of 2 parts rosin or dammar resin with 1 part gum arabic, tragacanth gum or agar agar can also be used with advantage for the same purpose, even if olibanum is somewhat superior to this mixture in its effect.
