EMI0002.0010
Eau <SEP> 50 <SEP> parties
<tb> Hexane <SEP> 25 <SEP> "
Automatic condensate drainer. The present invention relates to an automatic condensate water and air vent which can be applied to all steam pipes, which is very reliable in operation and which ensures the energetic discharge of the water. condensed. This bleeder is a type comprising an expandable reservoir consisting of at least one deformable box, the deformations of which, under the influence of variations in the pressure of a fluid which they contain, actuate the device for closing the tubing. purge.
The fluid contained in each deformable box consists of a mixture of water and volatile organic compounds such as: alcohols, ethers, hydrocarbons, the saturated vapor pressure of this mixture being, at all temperatures, greater than a constant quantity or appreciably c.onstani, e to the. pressure of saturated water vapor at. the same temperature.
The following description of an embodiment of the trap according to the invention shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, will make it possible to clearly understand said invention; in this drawing: FIG. 1 is a vertical section through the trap, and FIG. 2 is, on a larger scale, a half-section of the upper membrane of an expandable box.
The trap shown in fig. 1 of the sin is constituted by a lower body 1 which includes the purge pipe 2 and. by a cover 3 screwed on the body 1 with interposition of the seal 4 and which is connected to. the. steam pipe through tubing 5.
The dilat.able device, which comprises a single box 6, is suspended by a crown 7 clamped between the body 1 and the screwed cover 3. The upper membrane of the box is secured to the screw 8 screwed into the crown 7 and blocked on the latter by the nut 9. The screw 8 is pierced with a threaded central channel, at the base of which is a sealing ball 10 and through which a liquid can be introduced into the box 6 and then extracted. air of this box; when are these operations performed? the ball 10 is blocked by means of the screw 11 and the latter is preferably welded to the screw 8.
The lower membrane of the box 6 is integral with the stud 12 which serves for fixing the valve 13 by riveting. This valve, which must cooperate with the flat seat 14 to close the orifice of the purge pipe 2, has a circular groove 15 on its lower flat face.
Fig. 2 shows the form of the. diametral half-section of an elastic membrane; in this figure, 16 denotes this membrane which has undulations on either side of a parabola 17 of low parameter (for example of the order of 2 mm); these corrugations, which are concentric, have decreasing amplitudes from the center of the membrane towards the. periphery, that is to say from the left to the right of the figure.
The axis of symmetry 18 of the parabola is slightly inclined on the mean plane of the membrane; the angle a has, for example, a value of the order of 20 '. The corrugated part of the membrane has at its ends fillets 19 and 20 of relatively straight spokes.
The liquid introduced into the. expandable box (or in expandable boxes if there are several communicating with each other or not) 'consists of a mixture of water and organic compounds such as: alcohols, ethers, hydrocarbons: for example, the following mixture can be used:
EMI0002.0010
Water <SEP> 50 <SEP> parts
<tb> Hexane <SEP> 25 <SEP> "
<tb> Benzene <SEP> 25
<tb> Total <SEP> 100 <SEP> parts Such a mixture has a saturated vapor pressure which is greater than. all temperatures, or at least within the temperature limits useful for the application of the device, to the voltage of the saturated water vapor at. the same temperature, the. difference between vapor pressures being constant or substantially constant at different temperatures.
The mixture considered is reducing, so that it retains its volume and does not attack the metal constituting the expandable box; moreover, its freezing point can be very low.
When the. capacity of the trap is full of water vapor, the temperature inside the box 6 is the same as outside Nt the valve 13 is applied to its seat 14 as a result of the difference between the voltage of the vapor of the liquid in the can and that of the water vapor.
When water condenses in the trap, the outside pressure remains that of the steam line, but the pressure inside the box drops together with the temperature, until it reaches a lower value. at the pressure of the. steam. At this time, the box 6 contracts and lifts the valve 13.
This movement is very abruptly due, on the one hand, to the groove 15 of the valve 13 and, on the other hand, .de la. general parabola'ide shape adopted for the membranes and concentric undulations and decreasing amplitudes of these membranes; these arrangements of the membranes as well as the leaves 19 and 20 of large radius: ensure the uniform distribution of the forces on the a. on the face of the membranes, which increases the capacity of the gearboxes and at the same time ensures a constant stroke of the valve whatever the operating pressure.
The sudden raising of the key allows the expelled condensed water to be forced back and consequently <B> (le, </B> recover this hot water, for example, to return it to the boiler.
The constant or substantially constant difference between the pressure of the so-called liquid vapor of the box and the pressure of the water vapor allows the instantaneous operation of the valve 13 under all pressures for d, -, s temperature differences of a few by will only; by the judicious choice of the so-called mixture composition, it is possible to obtain the operation of the trap for such a temperature as is desired for the condensation water.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the particular details given. above which have been chosen as an example,
