Description
Process for the preparation of a compound of diethylbarbitaric acid. It has been found that when diethylbarbituric acid and 1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-dimethylamino-5-pyrazolone are dissolved in suitable solvents, a compound of the two starting materials in a ratio of 1 mol. Diethylbarbituric acid to 1 mol.1-phenyl - 2,3-dimethyl-4-dimethylamino-5-pyrazolone is ent, which crystallizes out at the appropriate concentration.
Depending on the solvent, the starting materials are used in a molecular ratio or a more or less large excess is required of one or the other of them. However, the compound of 1 mole of diethyl barbituric acid with 1 mole of 1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-dimethylamino-5-pyrazolone is always obtained.
The combination of diethylbarbituric acid with 1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-dimethylainino-5-pyrazolone forms a yellowish crystal powder, which reacts slightly acidic and melts at 115 '. It is easily soluble in most organic solvents and is said to be used as a medicine. <I> Example: </I> 250 parts of 1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-dimethylamino-5-pyrazolone and 184 parts of diethylbarbituric acid are refluxed in 250 parts of acetone until a completely clear solution originated. This solution will. cooled and, if necessary, vaccinated.
It solidifies into a cake made of fine crystal needles. The mother liquor is removed therefrom by squeezing and can be used for the preparation of another amount of the compound.
