Description
Process for the preparation of a trivalent compound of vanadium. Complex organic compounds of trivalent vanadium have not yet become known.
It has been found that a d'er- ard: ige compound can be prepared by using triglycolamic acid. Va.na, dinoxide V.0 and alkali treated.
The new product. is. a colored, solid body that almost looks in water. neutral reaction dissolves. It has excellent therapeutic value since. it acts very vigorously against syphilitic diseases and is distinguished from the known compounds of the higher-quality vanadium by its lower toxicity.
Example: 20 parts by weight of triglycolamic acid are mixed with a solution of 11 parts by weight of anhydrous soda in 60 parts by weight of water and. after adding 5 parts by weight of Va.nadinoxyd - V! jOa heated to neutrality. It is then evaporated to dryness, whereby the complex sodium-vanadium salt of triglycolamic acid remains as a brown amorphous body. It is soluble in water with a first yellow, then green color.
The aqueous solutions can be kept well and turn blue with mineral acids.
One can also proceed in such a way that one takes the triglycolamic acid first. heated with the vanadium oxide and the still acidic solution subsequently neutralized with soda.
