Rail contact device appealing for only one direction of travel. The invention relates to a responsive rail contact device in only one direction of travel, and is intended for signaling and hedging purposes for railways.
The device is characterized by two spring-loaded levers mounted on the rail web, the free ends of which are facing one another are close to one another and characterized in that a sleeve with a spring-influenced contact piece movable therein and an insulated mating contact is attached to one end of the one lever, and that the lever that carries the sleeve, in the direction of travel, in which the rail contact device is to respond, is behind the other lever, and that the levers are arranged on the rail in such a way that they pass through the flange of a wheel rolling on the rail to be depressed.
In the drawing, FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 show an embodiment of the rail contact device according to the present invention.
The rail contact device shown has two levers 41, 42 articulated on the web of rail 40, which are actuated by springs 43 and 43, respectively. 44 to be lifted up to about the upper edge of the rail, where then the free ends of these levers are close to each other, as shown in FIG.
If a wheel drives over the rail from right to left, FIG. 2, the right lever is first depressed, its free end meeting the free end of a sleeve 48 attached to the underside of the left lever, for which purpose the free end of this The sleeve advantageously ends further to the right than the free end of the left lever 41 itself, and thereby also presses the left lever 41 down, the free end of the right lever 42 penetrating the sleeve 48 and a guided therein under the action of a spring, not shown standing contact to a counter contact 45 presses.
The contact piece 46 is, for example, with the rail 40 and the mating contact 45, a line in conductive connection and therefore the connection between the track and line is made by trains moving from right to left. But if a train travels from left to right over the rail contact (Fig. 3), the left contact lever is first pressed down, taking the right one with it, as its tip lies against a horn 47 on the underside of the right lever 42 , which lies to the side of the sleeve 48 and opposite the end of the lever 41 carrying the sleeve 48.
If the train has gone over the levers, these are turned up again by the springs 43, 44 and, in one case, the contact piece 46 is pressed away from the mating contact 45 by its spring (not shown). The contact device is then ready for the next train. For the sake of greater safety, it is recommended to combine the above-described rail contact device in series with a second contact device actuated by the bending of the rail under the load of the train.
