Description

Manufacturing process of supports such as bearings, bushings etc. for transmission or machine shafts. The object of the invention is a method of manufacturing supports such as bearings, hangers, bearings, etc. for transmission or machine shafts.

These supports generally have two parts, made of cast iron, which are planed, milled or filed so as to fit one on the other along a median line; then, these two parts being assembled by bolts, one proceeds to the turning or boring of the housing, generally cylindrical, in which will turn the rotary member, transmission shaft or machine.

The object of the present invention is to completely eliminate the difficult and costly work of the adjustment by planing, milling or filing, of the two parts of the support and this by melting the support in a single piece having grooves arranged in a passing median plane. by the axis of the circular housing intended to be crossed by the rotary member and weakening in such a way the corresponding parts of said support, that one obtains its rupture into two parts, by exerting an expansion force in said housing circular.

The appended drawing, given by way of example, shows one form of application of the method which is the subject of the invention, namely a bearing-ring-lubricated transmission support shown in cross section, before it breaks in two. parts.

The support-bearing shown comprises the sole a and the oil reservoir b in which the bearing c is housed, held by the spacers d, e, f and g. On each side of the tank b are the housings h, i intended to receive the assembly bolts of the two parts of the support.

The bearing-support has, along a median plane AB-passing through the axis of the bearing c, grooves or grooves k in the form of ,, V which considerably weaken in this right all parts of the bearing-support and its pad. These grooves or grooves are obtained directly by molding, by models and cores prepared for this purpose.

Thus cast in cast iron, the bearing c of the support bearing is bored or turned and completely finished so that its circular housing corresponds exactly to the diameter of the shaft that it must support; then a slightly conical mandrel is introduced into said housing and pressure is exerted, for example, with a press, which causes the breakage in two parts of the support bearing and of the bearing, along the line AB, at the weakened places m, n, o, p, q and r.

We have, therefore, by placing the bolts in the housings h., i a bearing-support giving the same advantages and achieving the same goal as if it had been melted in two pieces then adjusted by planing, milling or filing, but these delicate and expensive operations have been completely avoided.

It is clear that the two parts, lower and upper, of the bearing-support could not fit better or more exactly than by their broken parts.

This process can be applied, of course; all kinds, shapes and sizes of cast iron bearings, appendages, supports or bearings. Reaming or internal turning of the neck sinet can also be done after the rupture, by tightening strongly against one another the two broken parts, by means of the bolts.

CLAIM Process for manufacturing supports such as bearings, bearings, etc. for transmission or machine shafts, characterized in that the support is melted in a single piece having grooves arranged in a median plane passing through the axis of the circular housing intended to be traversed by the rotary member and weakening of in such a way as the corresponding parts of said support, that its breakage in two parts is obtained by exerting an expansion force in said circular housing, by means of a mandrel, the two parts of the support thus obtained by breaking adapting therefore perfectly to each other without planing, milling or filing.
