Description

On élève alors (fig.

A method for wrapping a relatively hard body. The present invention relates to a process for the packaging of a relatively hard body according to which at least one sheet of packaging material is formed by cutting, which is large enough to encompass the entire body to be wrapped, a shell. of depth less than the height of the body, the latter then being introduced into this shell to complete the stamping thereof, the parts of the packaging protruding from the upper part of the body then being folded over it, after which it is subjected to compression .

The appended drawing shows, by way of example, schematically one way of carrying out the process.

With reference to the drawing, there is placed (FIG. 1) on a mold 70 with a movable bottom 71 a sheet 72 of wrapping material, for example tin paper, large enough to envelop the entire body to be wrapped. By means of the punch 73, this sheet 72 is partially stamped in the mold as shown in FIG. 2, while maintaining, by means not shown, the non-stamped parts of the sheet in the plane in which the latter was located before it was stamped. This stamped part 74 of the sheet has a depth less than the height of the body to be wrapped, which may for example be a piece of Ca membert cheese.

The body to be packaged 7-5 (FIG. 3) is then placed in the shell 74, with which the stamping of the sheet is completed as shown in FIG. 4, sufficiently so that the cover parts 76 are at least partially pressed against the interior wall of the mold.

The shell with its contents is then raised (fig. 5) by means of the movable bottom 71 out of the mold 70, sufficiently so that the parts 76 of the sheet 72 can be beaten again on the body 75 (fig. 6), after which the whole is compressed in the mold as shown in fig. 7. The body to be packaged may have in cross section for example the shape of a square, a rectangle, a circle or an ellipse.

This process allows the packaging of bodies such as, for example, pieces of Camembert cheese, the height of which varies slightly from one piece to another. Due to the fact that the compression of the body to be packaged takes place only after the non-stamped parts have been folded over it, the packaging is done cleanly and is exactly adapted to the body it contains.

Several superimposed sheets could naturally be pressed at the same time, and the non-stamped edges of the sheet (s) could be folded back other than by removing the shell from the mold. One could for example raise them by means of a movable frame placed normally on the edge of the mold, movable parallel to the side walls of the latter and then fold them down. It would also be possible, if the nature of the body 'to be packaged so permits, to emboss the wrapping sheet (s) sufficiently so that the edges of the sheet (s) are fully raised against the side walls of the mold to allow their subsequent folding, after a corresponding displacement of the bottom of the mold.
