Description

   Fig. 1 zeigt eine Machine in Draufsicht,
Fig. 2 in Seitenansicht ;
Fig. 3 zeigt die Stirnansicht der Maschine ;
Fig.   4    ist ein Schnitt nach der Linie   1B    der Fig. 1;

Muttern 21 befestigt.

Werkstück A hin und her.

     Rotary cutting tool and method and apparatus for making the same.

   The present invention relates to a rotary cutting tool, as to. r
Example cylindrical milling cutters, end mills, end mills, reamers and the like, and a method and a device for
Making the same. Cutting tools of the type mentioned are known in which successive cutting edges do not run equidistantly; In fact, these cutting edges run symmetrically to a line parallel to the axis of the tool, so that, for example, one cutting edge 5 runs to one side and the other 5 to the other side of said center line.

   In the rotary cutting tool of the present invention, a cutting edge also running in a helix and in the same direction is provided between each two cutting edges running with the same pitch in the same direction, but the pitch of which is different from that of the two adjacent cutting edges. The distance between the successive cutting edges is advantageously chosen so that each surface line of a cylinder laid through the cutting edges of the milling cutter has two
Cutting edges cuts. Thanks to this special shape of the milling cutter, smooth work is achieved and a corresponding (- increased performance.

   To carry out the procedure you can
Machines are used, one of which is shown in the accompanying drawing, a game Ausführungsbei.

   Fig. 1 shows a machine in plan view,
2 in side view;
Fig. 3 shows the front view of the machine;
Figure 4 is a section on line 1B of Figure 1;
5 and 6 show a milling cutter in a diagram and in development.

   The machine according to FIGS. 1 to 4 is used in connection with a milling machine known per se and not shown in the drawing. The milling machine has a milling table T which can be moved back and forth in a bed, over which the milling reel Z intended to receive a milling cutter H is rotatably mounted such that the axis of rotation of the milling spindle Z is at an angle to the movement path of the milling machine
Slide T lies. The drive of the table T and the milling spindle Z can take place in one of the known ways. A housing 1 is firmly screwed onto the table T.

  A hollow shaft 2 is rotatably arranged in the housing 1. A toothed segment 3 is rigidly attached to the hollow shaft 2. A toothed rack 4 is in engagement with the toothed segment 3; the latter can be moved vertically in the housing 1. r guided in guided tours. The rack 4 carries a pin 6 on which a slider 5 is rotatably arranged. The slider 5 is displaceable in a slot 8 of an arm 28 which is rotatably arranged in a bearing 9 by means of a pin 7. The bearing 9 is firmly connected to the cross slide S of the milling machine, in which cross slide the longitudinal slide T is arranged to be displaceable.

   The lever 28 is adjustably connected by means of screws 40 to a second arm 41 rotatably mounted on pin 7. The arm 41 has a fork 29 in which a slider 10 is slidably arranged. The crank pin 30 of a crank disk 11 is arranged in the slider 10. The latter sits on the shaft
14, which is rotatably mounted in the bearing 12. The drive of the shaft 14 takes place from the drive of the milling spindle Z by means not shown in the drawing. On the arm 28 there is a pointer 43 which plays over a scale 44 and on which the relative position of the arms 23 and 41 can be read off. The latter is attached to the arm 41, which in turn has a pointer 45 which plays over a scale 46 attached to the bearing 9.

   By adjusting the arms 28, 41 with respect to one another, the pitch of the cutting edges on the milling cutter to be produced can be changed in the manner described below.

  In the hollow spindle 2, a spindle 32 fixedly connected to a part disk 16 is rotatably mounted. A bracket 15 attached to the end of the hollow spindle 2 carries one with the
Hole 33 of the partial disc 16 cooperating bolt 17. With the help of the last Ren, the shaft 32 with respect to the
Hollow shaft 2 are set and there. with the number of teeth of the milling cutter being processed, etc. can be determined. The
Workpiece A is centered on a mandrel 20
Nuts 21 attached. The thorn is from the
Spindle 32 and a tailstock tip 23 hold ge. The mandrel 20 is also connected to the spindle 32 by means of a coupling sleeve 19 in such a way that the mandrel 20 cannot rotate relative to the shaft 32.

   The working method is as follows:
After the milling cutter body A to be machined, as described above, between the
Tips 22,23 is clamped, the
Longitudinal slide T is set back until the end face b of the workpiece A comes to rest behind the cutter H.

   The slide T is then raised in relation to the milling cutter g according to the depth of the workpiece A to be machined. The end face b of the workpiece vl is the placement edge at which machining begins. In this position is the: on the pin 6 of the rack 4 rotatably mounted slider 5 corresponding to the dieu or length of the to be machined
Workpiece A further backwards from that
Pivot points of the pin 7 removed in the
Slot 8 of the Schwinga. rmes 28.

   If the machine is now set in motion, the one driving the Eurbel pin 30 also rotates
Shaft 14, whereby the swing arm 28 swings out. The int
Housing 1 guided rack 4 slides up and down and swings by means of the tooth segment 3, the hollow spindle 2 and with it don-
Workpiece A back and forth.

   At the same time, the working slide T is guided against the milling cutter g, and there, as described above. the workpiece A rotates according to the oscillation of the arm 28, a wide section f at b is created in the workpiece A at the start of the table slide advance. Since the slider 5 located in the groove 8 approaches the pivot point of the swing arm 28 as the slide T progresses, the oscillating movement of the workpiece A naturally becomes smaller and smaller, and when the pivot 6 of the slider 5 is exactly opposite the bearing pin 7 of the swing arm 28 (Fig.

     1 and 2), the movement of the rack 4 and therefore also the rotation of the piece A is equal to zero. As a result, the slide piece 5 in the groove 8 of the swing arm 28, which is fixedly mounted during the operation of the machine, increasingly approaches the axis of the latter, In the workpiece 1, a cutout f @ which tapers out at an angle is produced, the edges c, c 'of which produce helical lines corresponding to the set oscillation angle of the arm 28.

   The edge c of the cut f forms the cutting line of the tooth, while the edge c 'gives the back of the tooth according to the profile of the milling cutter G. The teeth obtained in this way in workpiece A have the same tooth profile over their entire length.

   After the grooves in the workpiece. are worked out, the broad side f lies on f the end face b, the workpiece A is removed from the tip 22, rotated 180 and clamped again between the tips.

   Depending on the angular position of the arm 28 with respect to the arm 41, the slope of the helical cutting edges c will be different. On the scale 44, the slope of the center line M of the groove in the body A can be read or adjusted, from which the cutter R works on both sides. Scale 46 and pointer 45 are used to adjust the swing-out stroke of the arms 28, 41 which are at a selectable angle to one another and through whose movement the section f is created. If the arms 28, 41 are at an angle of 180 to one another, the center line M is perpendicular to the end face b of the milling cutter A.

   But if the angle enclosed by the two arms 28, 41 is made smaller than 180, it can be achieved that the center line M extends in a helical manner @
When the organ 5,6 is moved in the radial direction in the groove 8 with respect to the pivot 7, not only is the length of the path a of the organ 5,6 increased or decreased, depending on whether the organ 5,6 moves outward or inward but the entire path of movement of the organ 5, 6 in relation to the pivot 6 of the rocker and the axis x of the workpiece A by an amount y (Fig.

     7) moved up or down. As a result of the inevitable connection of the organ 5, 6 with the workpiece @, it can thus be achieved that visual cutting edges running in helical lines are formed.
