Description
Verfahren zur Darstellung eines als Schädlingsbekämpfungsmittel verwendbaren Kondensationsproduktes. Gegenstand des vorliegenden Patentes ist ein Verfahren zur Darstellung eines als Schädlingsbekämpfungsmittel verwendbaren Gemisches von isomeren Dimethyl-dioxy- dichlor-diphei)ylmethanen, dadurch gekenn zeichnet, dass man Formaldehyd mit 6-Clilor- 3-kresol in Gegenwart von sauren Konden sationsmitteln kondensiert.
<I>Beispiel:</I> 142,5 Gewichtsteile 6-Chlor-3-kresol und 39,4 Gewichtsteile Formaldehyd von 40 1/o wer- den mit 835 Gewichtsteilen 50 %iger Schwefel- säure bei<B>50-60 0</B> bis zur Beendigung der Kondensation gerührt.
Das abfiltrierte Pro dukt wird mit Dampf von wenig Chlorkresol befreit, in Natronlauge gelöst, von den etwa vorhandenen geringen Mengen unlöslicher Produkte filtriert und mit Säure wieder aus geschieden. Eine weitere Reinigungkann durch Kristallisation aus Benzol erfolgen.
Das er haltene Gemisch von Dimethyl-dioxy-dichlor- diphenylmethanen schmilzt unscharf zwischen 132-176 <B>0</B> und besteht vielleicht aus 2<B>.</B> 2'- Dioxy-4 <B>.</B> 4'-dimethyl-5 <B>.</B> 5'-dichlordiphenyl- methan und<B>6.</B> 2'-Dioxy-2. 4-dimethyl-3 <B>.</B> 5'- diebloidiphenylmethan,
und<B>6 .</B> 6'-Dioxy-2 <B>.</B> 2'- dimethyl-3 <B>.</B> 3'-dichlordiphenylmethan.
Es verhält sich gegen Motten und ähn- liehe Schädlinge wie das nach dem Haupt patent Nr. <B>135166</B> erhaltene Produkt und ist in verdünnter Natronlauge löslich.

The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of a mixture of isomeric dimethyl-dioxy-dichloro-diphei) ylmethanes which can be used as a pesticide and is characterized in that formaldehyde is condensed with 6-chloro-3-cresol in the presence of acidic condensers.

The filtered product is freed from a little chlorocresol with steam, dissolved in sodium hydroxide solution, filtered to remove any small amounts of insoluble products that may be present and then separated out with acid. Further purification can be done by crystallization from benzene.
The obtained mixture of dimethyl-dioxy-dichlorodiphenylmethanes melts vaguely between 132-176 <B> 0 </B> and consists perhaps of 2 <B>. </B> 2'-dioxy-4 <B>. < / B> 4'-dimethyl-5 <B>. </B> 5'-dichlorodiphenyl methane and <B> 6. </B> 2'-dioxy-2. 4-dimethyl-3 <B>. </B> 5'-diebloidiphenylmethane,
and <B> 6. </B> 6'-Dioxy-2 <B>. </B> 2'-dimethyl-3 <B>. </B> 3'-dichlorodiphenylmethane.
It behaves against moths and similar pests like the product obtained according to the main patent no. <B> 135166 </B> and is soluble in dilute sodium hydroxide solution.
