Description
Process for impregnating wood. As has been found, derivatives of carbohydrates, which contain radicals of higher fatty acids without prejudice to another substitution, are particularly suitable for impregnating wood, for example to protect it against rot. This impregnation with the aforementioned carbohydrate derivatives enables the wood to be made completely waterproof; this eliminates the possibility of laziness.
The impregnation of the wood with the substances mentioned can be carried out using one of the known methods.
Example r: The wood to be treated is made free of air and then soaked under pressure with a solution of 10 parts of cellulose trilaurate in 100 parts of dichloromethane, chloroform or benzene.
Example 2: A starch aurate with a melting point above 100 C is pressed in molten form under pressure into the wood to be treated. An insoluble cellulose tetrilaurate can be used in the same way.
If necessary, anti-rot agents can also be added to the impregnating substances. Other additives are also possible, for example dyes, in order to achieve special patterns or the like.
