Description

  Les     fig.    1, 3, 5, 7 et 9 sont des vues en  plan des cinq premières, et les     fig.    2, 4, 6, 8  et 10 en sont les coupes transversales selon  2-2,     4-4,        6-(i,    8-8 et 10-10     des    précé  dentes; -  La     fig.    11     montre    en coupe un assemblage  de trois éléments;

Hollow construction element. The object of the invention is a hollow construction element, characterized in that it is of prismatic shape, and has closed cavities at their inner end and the mouth of which is narrow with respect to their depth, the mouths of said cavities being arranged in at least one row on at least one of the faces of the prism. This element can be a brick, a paving stone, a tile, a slab, etc., or one of the objects that will be. hereinafter referred to as "molded articles".

Items like this must. often be cut by workers, to varying sizes, widths or lengths, and made by means of a binding material placed in the joints.

In dies elements according to the present invention, bricks, paving stones, tiles, slabs, etc., for example molded, having neither protrusions nor indentations penetrating each other, the binding material closes the mouths of the cavities, and simply blocks them from their end, without filling them. These elements can be easily divided into halves or quarters, for example. according to the chosen cavities.

The width of the mouth of these can reach 12 to 13 mm, but, preferably, will not exceed this value, while the depth of said cavities can vary, to conform to the different dimensions and shape of the objects; but preferably not less than three times the width of their mouth.

The usual use of ribs, tongues or projections co-operating with grooves, battues or other similar indentations, to prevent sliding or relative displacement of adjacent or superimposed objects, is not necessary in elements according to the invention, and these can be employed as panneresses, headers, turned in any way, since the binder material forms protrusions penetrating into the cavities. The cavities not only greatly reduce the weight of the elements, but act, when closed by mortar, as an insulator.

The elements may receive their shapes in suitably shaped molds or dies provided with members creating the cavities, in a press or the like.

When these elements are of clay or the like, heat passes rapidly through the relatively thin walls or partitions separating the cavities, resulting in a great saving in drying and calcining fuel in an oven.

The accompanying drawing shows nine embodiments of the object of the invention, given by way of example, and an assembly of three of them.

  Figs. 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 are plan views of the first five, and figs. 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 are the cross sections along 2-2, 4-4, 6- (i, 8-8 and 10-10 of the previous ones; - Fig. 11 shows in section an assembly of three elements;

Figs. 12, 13, 14 and 15 are respectively a top view, a section along 13-13, of FIG. 12, a view from below and a side view of the sixth form, finally FIGS. 16, 18 and 20 are perspective views of the last three forms, and FIGS. 17, 19 and 21 of the cuts according to 17-17, 19-19 and 21-21 of the previous ones. The same reference letters designate like parts in all the figures. X denotes bricks and Z denotes paving stones.

In the example according to fig. 1 and 2, the cavities a, some of which are of rec tangular section and others of square section, are molded in two groups on the two opposite faces of the element, so as to leave between the bottoms of the two groups a diameter. phrase c, and between themselves partitions b.

In the example according to fig. 3 and 4, the cavities a are also molded in two groups on two opposite faces; in each group, each extends over almost the entire width of the element and is located between two of those of the other group, which open on the opposite face; their mouth a2 is widened, so that the diaphragm c is composed of curvilinear elements.

In the example according to fig. 5 and 6, the cavities a molded on the two opposite faces of the element in two groups separated by a diaphragm c, or a sinuous shape creating key walls b the width of the element, and shorter walls b ' .

In the example according to fig. 7 and 8, the cavities in two opposite groups are of long shape and are slightly flared towards their mouth.

In the example according to fig. 9 and 10, the element has three groups of cavities a, which open out on only one of its faces, and are separated by secondary walls b '; the groups are themselves separated by partitions b, and the cavities are connected together in each group.

Fig. 11 shows three of the elements which have just been described with reference to FIGS. 3 and 4, 5 and 6 and 9 and 10 can be assembled by plaster or cement which, thanks to the small width of the cavities a, penetrates only a small depth and forms kinds of plugs dl which prevent any sliding from one element to another.

In the example according to fig. 12 to 15, the face of the element opposite to that on which the cavities a clog has grooves at right angles, and the side faces have shallow al cells.

In the example according to fig. 16 and 17, the cavities a are molded in two groups in two of the opposing small faces of the element, the other faces having shallow and elongated α cells.

The example represented by FIGS. 18 and 19 are analogous, but a1 cells are partly round in shape.

Finally, in the example according to fig. 20 and 21. two contiguous cavities are connected by a third of curved shape, so as to form a single cavity of sinuous shape. Three keys these are molded on one side of the element. In any element, the walls separating the cavities may be thicker than the cavities themselves.

The binding material, on entering the cavities, compresses the air they contain. which limits the plug-shaped projection formed by said material.

The walls F and the partitions b give the elements described very great rigidity, which allows them to be loaded much more than usual elements of the same weight.

Finally, the faces on which do not open cavities may have shallow cells giving more grip to a binding material which may be used.
