Description

Circular chain loom. The object of the invention is a circular warp loom comprising a row of fixed needles, plates functioning between them, a sloth and a circular row of movable thread guides with respect to the needles, characterized in that the needles are arranged radially, and in that the plates are arranged so as to move the mesh formed,

along said needles in either direction, to operate the picking and felling.

The appended drawing represents an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example.

Fig. 1 shows, in axial section, the relative position of the most important parts of the machine; Figs. 2 to 6 show various successive positions of the members forming links during a cycle of operations.

A circular row of needles 1 is fixed to the periphery of an annular plate 2 which is screwed in its center to the fixed axis 3 of the machine. The needles are arranged radially, either horizontally or slightly inclined, and they are of the beard type, the beards being placed as high as possible.

The press 4, in the form of a flat ring placed above the barbs of the needles, is carried by its hub, by a sleeve 5 which surrounds the axis 3. The press 4 is intended to come and go vertically on the 'axis 3 action born by one or more rods 6 which are screwed at their lower end into a flange of the sleeve 5, and actuated directly or indirectly by a cam or equivalent device.

A circular row of plates 7 functions between the needles 1. These plates form part of angled levers 8 carried so as to be able to pivot on consoles 9 mounted on the periphery of a ring 10. This ring is placed in a suitable position at the- below the needles, and is carried by a member 11 in the form of a wheel, the hub 12 of which is mounted so as to be able to slide on the axis 3. The inner arms 13 of the levers 8 have at their end a rounded part 14 which engages in an annular groove 15 at the periphery of another ring 16 which can also move vertically. The groove 15 is formed by a narrow depression of the periphery of the ring 16, which is closed by an annular plate 17 screwed to the ring 16.

Preferably, several plates 7 are formed on an angled lever 8; these plates could also be formed by narrow bands each having a hook, and bones each winking in a notch in a support projecting from the ring 10.

The rings 10 and 16 both have a vertical reciprocating movement, that is to say parallel to the axis of the machine. This movement is transmitted to them by means of rods 18 and 19 respectively, screwed at their lower ends to said rings, and actuated directly or indirectly by cams, not shown, equivalent devices arranged appropriately.

The .rotation of the rings 4, 10 and 16 is prevented by any suitable means, such as a key carried by the axis 3 and cooperating with the grooves of the ring hubs. Vertical movement can be imparted to these non-rotating - rings, using a suitable rod or lever mechanism from cam discs, drums or other rotating devices similar, placed in any suitable place on the machine, preferably: at its upper part.

A circular row of thread guides 20 is arranged concentrically with the needles 1 and fixed to a ring-shaped support 21 carried at the lower ends of arms 22 which hang from a flange 23 of a socket 24, which surrounds a second socket. 25 can rotate around the machine axis. This sleeve 25 is held against the key 26 of the machine by means of an annular plate 27 which is bolted to it.

The connection between the sleeves 24 and 25 is ensured by one or more bolts 28 arranged so as to be able to slide inside one or more holes 29 of the sleeve 24; this or these bolts 28 are made integral with the sleeve 25 by a ring 30, so that, the sleeve 24 being able to have a vertical sliding movement with respect to the sleeve 25, the two sleeves are rotated around the axis machine at the same time.

The vertical movement of the socket 24, therefore of the yarn guides 20, can be effected in any suitable manner; in the example described, a plate 31 having a recess embraces, near the periphery, a flange 32 of the sleeve 24; a rod 33 fixed to this plate 31 receives a vertical reciprocating movement, for example by a cam disc or an equivalent device, and transmits it to the sleeve 24.

The rotary movement of the two bushes 24, 25, and. consequently also of the thread guides,: is obtained by means of a worm 34 carried by a shaft 35, and engages with a toothed ring 36 which forms part of a flange provided at the upper part of the socket 25. The: son 37 are born to guides 20 on guide rollers 38 carried by arms 39 extending radially outside the ring 21, the wire being for example supplied by spools placed at the lower part of the machine.

       17. As a result -from the above that the son guides are movable in the vertical direction. and that they can be moved laterally with respect to the needles both in their upper position and in their lower position, the arrangement being. such that they are moved to their highest position while the plates 7 are moved radially outwardly to pull down the old loops, the thread guides being, for this purpose, moved out of the path of the plates.

The operation is as follows: if we assume that the various parts of the machine are in the position shown in fig. 1, the manufactured product 40 is pulled down, on the inclined exterior faces of the plates 7. In this position, the latter are located well behind the shanks of the needles, far from the barbs, the threads being led into those. here by the guides? 0 which are located immediately below the needles, the press 4 being immediately above the barbs.

From this position, the plates 7 move towards the barbs of the needles as shown in fig. 2, this movement resulting from the oscillation of the levers 8 on their pivots, thanks to the movements of the rings 10 and 16. When the plates approach the press 4, the latter presses the barbs on the needles, and a new movement of the plates pushes the last stitch produced on the barbs, as shown in fig. 3.

Before the plates 7 continue their movement, the press 4 must be quickly raised to the position shown in fig. 4, the thread guides being at the same time moved up the upper side of the needles in a slightly slower movement.

The continued movement of the plates 7 then knocks down the needles, the stitches which have just been formed (fig. 5). During this disengagement movement, the thread guides are in their highest position, in which position a lateral movement is given to the thread guides to lay the threads on one or more needles by rotation of the sleeves 24 and 25, after which , the various parts return to the position shown in FIG. 1; in this movement. the plates move backwards following the needles and taking with them the last loop formed, as shown in fig. 6.

While the 7 decks continue to. backtrack taking the last stitch well back on the needles, the thread guides move downwards and come immediately under the needles; this movement results in passing fresh thread under the beard of the needles (fig. 1). The thread guides 20 are also moved laterally after having been brought under the needles as shown in fig. 1; this last movement occurs either in the same direction or in the opposite direction to that which it had originally above the needle.

The cycle of operations forming the mesh then begins again as described.

Instead of fixing all the yarn guides to a single support ring, one could provide several of these rings each carrying an appropriate number of yarn guides, each ring with its guides being actuated by means of transmission of separate movements. If, for example, two of, these rings are provided; they can be rotated in the opposite direction.

In addition, the .disposition of the various organs described above can be reversed; in this case, the work will be pulled up by pulling the needles and the barbs of the needles and the press will be placed below the needles.
