Description
High frequency conductor, intended to withstand high temperatures. The object of the present invention is a high frequency conductor; intended to withstand high temperatures. This conductor is characterized in that it comprises an insulating support, -from an electrical point of view, and refractory, and which has a groove filled with carbon.
The accompanying drawing represents; by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial view and tick diagram of the first embodiment and FIG. 2, a similar view of the second embodiment.
In fig. 1, 1 shows an ingot mold and 2 a cylindrical support made from an electrically insulating and refractory material, such as, for example, zirconia oxide. In the outer surface of this cylinder is formed a helical groove 3, which will be partially filled with carbon 4, for example in the form of graphite or pulverized and agglomerated carbon; this carbon forms a continuous layer, covered with a layer 5 of a refractory cement and electrically insulating. The support is protected by a thin mantle 6 made of a refractory material, for example magnesia, mounted interchangeably on this support.
When the mold is filled with a molten metal, the support 1 is immersed in the upper part of the latter at the same time as the carbon layer is passed through the high frequency current. This prevents too rapid cooling of the upper part of the bath.
In fig. 2, 7 shows the wall of a furnace made of magnesia and provided with a refractory inner lining 8; on the outer surface of the wall 7 is formed a helical groove 9 containing, like the previous one, a continuous layer of carbon, covered with a refractory cement. When the high frequency current passes through the carbon, the metal contained inside the furnace is heated.
