Description
Plastic mass for decorative coatings and method (the preparation thereof. The present invention comprises a plastic mass for decorative coatings, intended to to be applied in thin layers on any base, and a method of preparation. of this mass.
This is essentially composed of approximately: 1 kg of water 1, of glue 50 gr of camphor 150 </ B> -alcohol 25 disinfectant 1500 white spirit 1500 rosin 75 NaCI 700 of a mineral salt capable of forming with rosin a suitable combination to act as a drying agent on linseed oil 225 commercial soap powder 50 kg of dry neutral carbonate, the mass being intended to be, after installation,
coated with a layer of linseed oil. The preparation process d., Oet.Ïe is as follows: A) The glue is dissolved in water; it is heated in a water bath until complete dissolution; let cool to 225 to 30 and then add the solution of camplire in alcohol. After thorough mixing, the disinfectant, for example plienic acid, is added.
B) The rosin is dissolved in the whito spirit, then y is added 100 gr of soda lye. Leave to stand for at least a day.
C) We mix the two solutions indicated under A and B, #and add to this remaining mixture Io, that is to say 125 < / B> gr of washing soda, in order to obtain a complete emulsion. The 75 gr of sodium chloride are then added. The mass is left to gel, then it is heated to to 40 ' and the dry neutral carbonate and mineral salts are added.
By cooling. we obtain a pasty mass , very plastic, flexible, which can be easily applied to all surfaces, either with, the spatula, or with a brush if it is extended with the water. This mass has a strong adhesion for all materials.
When the covering is dry, apply a layer of linseed oil, preferably hot.
The metal salts are, for example, salts of Pb or Mn; they combine with the rosin and this combination reacts with the oil which penetrates into the whole mass thanks to its permeability; a plaster is thus obtained - of great solidity, flexible and not flaking on impact. The oxidation to which the linseed oil undergoes increases more and more the solidity of the coating, which remains , stable, also -well outside outside as inside.
Before laying, you can mix with the mass all the desired colors, depending on the effects to produce; this color permeates the whole mass.
Even if we use colors other than pigments, decomposition is not at all to -charged, as in the masses known so far. As the mass is colored throughout its thickness, wear does not cause discoloration or change & tones.
The mass prepared as indicated is conserved, ready for use, without losing any of its properties; it is applied in thin layers of varying consistency as the case may be, but it can however be up to 8 millimeters in thickness.
The dry neutral carbonate is, for example, carbonate of lime; it can be added after the mass has been constituted as indicated; -this can be kept indefinitely.
