Numbering drum counter. The present invention relates to a totalizing counter with ciphered drums for the purpose of totaling mechanical movements.
The characteristic of the invention lies in the fact that the different drums placed against each other and of which the periphery of each is numbered from 0 to 9 are driven one after the other by means of cli- qui_ #ts mounted on the external face of each drum,
these pawls influenced by springs coming into engagement on one side with a ten-toothed tooth cut in the hollow of the drums and on the other side with a cam provided with a recess or a boss fixed on the 'meter shaft, such that a drive drum idle on the shaft rotates the first drum forward by ten divisions of 36 of S size each,
the arrival on zero of the first drum being combined with the engagement of the second pawl in the second drum

<tb> to, <SEP> zero. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the present invention.
In it: Fig. 1 shows a plan view of a numbered drum according to a first embodiment, FIG. 2, a view in elevation of a totalizing counter with four bare drums meroted from 0 to 9, the first two being seen in section, FIG. 3, a plan view on a larger scale of a drum according to a second embodiment, FIG. 4, a partial axial section following two drums, FIG. 5, a section with a view of the meter shaft, Figs. 6 and 7, the reset device according to two embodiments.
According to fig. 1 and 2, the bare drum 1 denoted on its peripheral surface from 0 to 9 internally has a hollow with teeth 2 with ten teeth, that is to say that each tooth is cut at an angle of 36 degrees. This roller 1 is slipped on the shaft 25 and can turn crazy on the latter. The say that 4 ifig. 2) is integral with a hub 5 on which is keyed the worm wheel 6 driven by the helical toothed wheel 7. This disc also rotates idle on the shaft 25. It carries on its internal surface the cli quet 8 can pivot on the journal 9 and influenced by a leaf spring. 10 fixed on screw 11.
When the disc 4 is driven in a rotational movement, the end of the pawl 8 slides on the cam 12 provided with a key 13 which is introduced into the groove 26 of the shaft 25. It therefore follows that 'at. each revolution of the disc 4, the end 8 'of the pawl 8 causes the drive of the .chiffré drum 1. of an angle of 36 degrees. Between the ninth and tenth tooth, the 8 "pawl attached to the outer surface of the first numbered drum falls into the recess of the cam 12 'and drives the second numbered drum 1' which in turn moves 36 degrees. to mark the number 10.
Continuing the rotational movement, the first numbered drum is driven as previously described up to the number 9, that is to say that the counter marks at this instant 19. The second drum is driven again to indicate the number 20 and the movement continues and so on. It is clear that the number of numbered drums or disks can be arbitrary without changing gold. nothing the principle described.
The various drums are held tight against their cams by means of small springs 1à.
According to fig. 3, 4, the chif frés drums 16 also have on one of their faces a hollow whose periphery is divided by a special toothing into ten parts each having an angle of 36 degrees. The drive disc placed on the right of the totalizer is provided laterally with a pawl 17 journaled on a pivot 18, this pawl being influenced by the spring 19 fixed by the clamping screw 20.
The pawl 17 with double teeth 23 and 24 attacks the cam 21 having a boss 22. This cam is slid on the central shaft 25 on which it is held by the triangular key 26.
It therefore follows that. every revolution. if the driving drum 27 is actuated in a left to right rotational movement, the pawl 17 is brought into engagement by means of its spout 23 with one of the teeth of the drum 16, each revolution of the said 27 causing said roller to move at an angle of 36 degrees.
During the ninth turn, the pawl fixed on the. face of the first roll is. lifted by the second cam and causes the simultaneous driving of the first two rollers to mark the number 10, the first roller then being again actuated by the driving disc 27 idly rotating on the axis 25.
A domed spring 28 of hand sheet steel holds the rollers in friction with the corresponding cam. The totalizer rollers described can be easily reset to zero as shown in fig. 6 by fixing on -each roller a small pin 29 forming a stopper which is placed in front of the spring blades 30, comb or other device disposed tangentially to the periphery -des rolls.
In the operating position of the counter, the shaft 25 is locked by means of a button 31 placed at its end and -which, influenced by an internal spring 32 can be immobilized by coming to engage in a pin 33 fixed on the . case 34 of the counter. To bring the counter back to zero, it suffices to release the button 31 by sliding it axially on the shaft 25, then turn the latter. The drums abutting against the blades 30 mounted in the interior of the housing are thus all returned to the starting point. U # maneuver button 31 is then blocked as said previously.
Another means of resetting is shown in FIG. 7. The axis 25 of the rollers is immobilized by the pawl 35 and the spring 36 which act on the disc 37 integral with the aforementioned axis 25. A knurled knob or a key fixed on the axis 25 makes it possible to turn the latter and the disc 37 in the direction of the arrow. When a complete revolution of the axle 25 and the disc 37 is over, the pawl 35 falls back into the notch, the latter immobilizing the axle 25 and the numbered drums are all reset to zero or to a preset position. in advance.
It is understandable: that the reset could be done in a different way.
