Description

montre.

watch. Until now, the dials have always been kept on the watch movement by means of feet which were added in different ways and which were inserted into holes made for this purpose in the immediately adjacent parts of the movement. . In certain fancy watches, in particular in those with a domed plate, this way of doing things causes great inconvenience and requires an enormous amount of precautions of all kinds.

The object of the present invention is a watch, characterized in that it comprises at least one member having a groove in which the dial of the watch is engaged.

There is shown, by way of example, in the appended drawing, and this insofar as the understanding of the invention so requires, four embodiments of the watch according to the present invention.

Fig. 1 shows in plan the upper face of a movement to which is adapted a dial, end pieces, removable, g and h., Shown in fig. 3, being removed; Fig. 2 is a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a section along the line III-III of FIG. 1; Figs. 4 and 5 show two other embodiments of the object of the invention, and FIGS. 6 and 7 are plan and sectional views of another embodiment.

In the example shown in FIG. 1, has designated the plate of a watch; the latter has a curved upper face b and a lower flat assembly face c. In this upper face is made a groove d which is slightly deeper on its opposite sides at e and which is limited towards its deeper parts by slanted parts and forming a dovetail.

The dial f, which here is formed from a thin metal foil, is introduced first on one side under the overhanging part of one of the sides of the groove, and then, after being slightly bent and under tension, under the other side of the groove. The natural elasticity of the metal, which has not been used too much, keeps the dial in place.

The parts g and la (fig. 3) are then attached to the ends of the groove, supporting the dial at these ends and held either by screws or by dowels to prevent it from sliding. These end pieces can equally well be replaced either by the screw heads that would be placed after the dial, or by slightly conical plugs planted flush with the edge of the latter.

@The groove here arched, which is intended to receive the dial, could stop at a certain distance from the edge of the watch, so that after having introduced the dial, either in the manner which was indicated above, or by sliding it from the open part of the groove, it comes up against that end of the groove which would limit the position of the dial in place. A way of maintaining the dial in a domed plate watch has been described above. However, one could use exactly the same way of doing things in a flat watch, leaving a height of a few hundredths of a millimeter between the center of the dial and the part of the movement facing it, in the immediate vicinity of the minute track.

In the example shown in FIG. 4, the f dial ends with k ears which are inserted at each end of the movement in flaps l, one of which is shown partially in section and is fixed afterwards either flat on the turntable, or below the latter. These flaps have slanted parts 7n which form with the plate grooves by means of which the dial is held in place. In the case of a domed watch as in that of a flat watch, the groove could be made, no not in the plate itself, but in pegs i planted in the latter, as shown in fig. 5.

The groove in which the dial f is taken could be located either at a certain distance from the plate, or as shown in the drawing, flush with the latter.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. ô and 7, there is provided, in plate a, a groove o, one side o1 of which is angled, while, on the other side of the dial, a movable plate p which is cut diagonally at its end adjacent to the dial is caused, by sliding in the core of the plate where it is engaged, to abut against the edge of the dial in order to hold the latter in place. It is clear that this way of proceeding could also be applied to the other side of the dial.
