Description

       Fig.    1 zeigt einen Längsschnitt durch eine       Schraubenmutter    in festgezogenem Zustande,       Fig.    2 eine Draufsicht auf die Innen  mütter; in den       Fig.    3 und 5 sind die Aussenmutter und  die Innenmutter gesondert je in einem Längs  schnitt dargestellt;       Fig.    4 zeigt eine     Unteransicht    einer  Hälfte der Aussenmutter; die       Fig.    6, 7 und 8 sind Längsschnitte in den  drei wichtigsten Funktionslagen der Muttern;       Fig.    6 zeigt die     Schraubenmutter    unbelastet  und nicht mit dem Schlüssel angezogen.;

Screw nut with locking device. The present invention relates to a nut with a fuse device.

In the drawing, various exemplary embodiments of the invention for screws are shown ben with Whitworth threads.

       Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a screw nut in the tightened state, Figure 2 is a plan view of the inner nut; 3 and 5, the outer nut and the inner nut are shown separately each in a longitudinal section; 4 shows a bottom view of one half of the outer nut; 6, 7 and 8 are longitudinal sections in the three most important functional positions of the nuts; Fig. 6 shows the nut unloaded and not tightened with the wrench .;

Figure 7 shows the nut loaded and not tightened; Fig. 8 shows the tightened screw nut in the loaded state; Fig. 9 serves to illustrate the deformation occurring when the screw locking device is tightened.

The construction of the individual exemplary embodiments will first be described.

In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1: the screw, 2 the outer nut and 3 the inner nut; 4 are the outer flanks and 5 are the inner flanks of the screw thread. The inner nut 3 consists of an annular body 8 and a resilient attachment body 9 made of one piece with this. The annular body 8 has six wrench surfaces.

The axial cross-section of the extension body 9 is tapered starting from the ring body 8 and is in the Ausfüh shown in Fig. 1, approximately example of two truncated conical surfaces fl, f 2 < / I> delimits - whose vertex angles are a and ss. The surface, which is formed by the generating ends a1, b, of the truncated cone is the support surface for the outer nut.

The attachment body 9 of the inner nut is provided with .Slitzen 11, 12, which run parallel to each other and: perpendicular to the opposite wrench surfaces.

The outer nut (Fig. 3) has the same wrench size as the inner nut in the present embodiment; its height H is greater than the height HZ of the neck body of the inner nut. Your area is also provided with six key surfaces.

The outer nut 2 has, compared to a conventional nut, a very low thread height (approximately only 21 / _9 thread turns), which, however, is completely sufficient to pull the appropriate one. This small Ge thread height of the outer nut makes it possible to compensate for any eccentricity of the conical contact surfaces. Such an eccentricity can easily occur during mass production if the bearing surfaces of the two nuts are not exactly concentric with the thread axis.

To compensate for such eccentricities of the conical surfaces, the outer nut is shifted laterally over the screw thread without the contact surface being significantly reduced as a result.

Inside the outer nut there is a conical recess, the conical surface f of which rests on the conical surface f :, of the inner nut. The conical surface f 4 is dimensioned in such a way that it protrudes beyond the bearing surface f 3 of the inner nut in the loaded condition with the key tightened outer nut (Fig. 8) in order to avoid dangerous edge stresses in the outer nut.

Advantageously, the tapering of the attachment bodies 9 (FIG. 5) is carried out in such a way that the clamping jaws from the ring part towards the head end have successive cross-sections with the same flexural strength as possible. The purpose of this training is to achieve a uniform bending stress on the individual cross sections of the clamping jaws when the external nut is tightened, thereby avoiding breakage of the clamping jaws.

The conical surface f 4 of the outer nut advantageously runs into the thread zone, as shown in FIG. 3. Up until now, it has been customary to arrange an offset at the transition of such conical surfaces into a thread zone, either in an end face extending perpendicular to the screw axis from the surface f4, or in an undercut,

which mediated the transition between the surface f 4 to an end face perpendicular to the axis. If such a step is provided on the outer nut, this causes the surface f4 to move out against the periphery, which is associated with a weakening of the wall thickness in the radial direction of the outer nut 2. The design according to FIG. 3 avoids a weakening of the outer nut, so that it is better secured against expansion when tightened.

Furthermore, if the outer nut is designed with such a step between this and the inner nut, a clearance would have to be provided in order to prevent this step from touching the inner nut before the outer nut is sufficiently tightened. To achieve this leeway, the ends of the extension bodies 9 would have to be made much thicker than when the surface f 4 was continued into the thread zone.

Measurements carried out by the inventor in various laboratories showed "that approximately double the locking torque can be achieved with the screw locking device described than with a normal crown nut with a split pin.

The comparative tests were carried out with different versions of the screw nut under static and dynamic loads. In these tests, the loosening torque of the outer nut alone and the loosening torque of the inner nut were measured at certain screw loads and at certain tightening torques.

Both the tightening torques and the loosening torques were generated on a wrench with a lever arm of a certain length with the interposition of a spring balance and the force acting on the lever arm was read off on the spring balance.

The processes that occur when loading and tightening the nut are explained with reference to FIGS. 6 to 9 as follows: When the nut is hand-tightened but unloaded, the outer nut 2 and the inner nut 3 assume the position shown in FIG. The bolt bolt lies. with the inner thread flanks on the outer thread flanks 40 of the outer nut. Between the outer thread flanks 4 of the bolt and the inner thread flanks 41 of the outer nut there is a clearance which corresponds to the permissible fit.

In the areas of the inner nut, the outer thread flanks 4 of the bolt rest against the inner thread flanks 45 of the inner nut. Between the inner thread flanks 5 of the bolt and the outer thread flanks 46 of the inner nut there is again the clearance corresponding to the permissible fit.

When the screw is loaded and the external nut (Fix. 7) is only tightened by hand, the screw bolt lies with the. inner Ge thread flanks 5 on both the outer Ge thread flanks 40 of the outer nut, as well as on the outer flanks 46 of the inner nut, without the need for the same pressure distribution along all the supporting flanks.

When the screw bolt is loaded and the outer nut (fix. 8) is tightened with the wrench, the bearing flanks (inner flanks 5) of the bolt rest against the outer flanks 40, 46 of both nuts, with approximately the same pressure distribution.

When tightening with the key, the outer nut is displaced against the inner nut in the direction of the axis, the counter surface f4 exerting pressure on the contact surface f of the inner nut. This deforms the attachment bodies 9 forming the clamping jaws.

The processes accompanying this deformation are explained in detail with reference to FIG. 9.

With 1-1 ', 2-2', 3-3 ', 4-4' those cross sections of the jaws are marked, in the vicinity of which .die deformation is concentrated.

When you tighten the outer nut, the jaws begin to bend near the cross-sections 3-3 'and 4-4'. One can assume that they revolve around point c. As soon as the first thread of the jaw rests on the bolt thread, the jaws begin to bend in the vicinity of the cross-section 2-2 'when tightened further, with the outer nut acting on the jaws at the contact edge of both cones. The Durehbiegung in the cross section 2-2 'stops at the moment when the jaws are fully on the bolt thread. The outer nut rests on the entire surface f l # of the clamping jaws and its tightening is complete.

With a, b, e, d , the course of the neutral fiber is approximately denoted at the beginning of the tightening of the outer nut. During the tightening, the neutral fiber layer changes from position a, b, c, d to position d, b ', c, d , where b, c and b '-c go diverging through point c.

The distance b-b 'corresponds to the clearance s between the thread of the nut and the screw thread. For threads with a vertex angle of 60, this distance is equal to the axial clearance between the threads. In Fig. 9, the inclination of the distance b-c of the neutral fiber is such that the point b after Ver shift to the position b 'in the direction of the screw axis
EMI0003.0056
has lowered from its original position.

The jaws of the inner nut are thus shortened during the deflection
EMI0003.0058
According to FIG. 9, the part a-b. Of the neutral fiber moves parallel to itself into the position a'-b ', the direction a-a' respectively. b-b 'runs parallel to the supporting flank of the thread. This ensures that the clamping jaws sit snugly against the (screw bolt.

The following four zones can be distinguished in the tightened mother. A zone A (fix. 1 and 9), in which the thread of the outer nut 2 rests against the inner thread flank 5 of the screw. A zone B, in which the thread of the clamping part of the clamping jaws 9 flanks 4, 5 of the screw against both threads. A zone C, which is formed by the connecting parts of the clamping parts of the jaws with the ring body of the inner nut and a zone D, in which the thread of the inner nut as in zone -A rests only on the inner thread flanks 5 of the screw.

In practice it can happen that if the jaws are manufactured inaccurately after the jaws have been bent, a small space remains between the wings in zone D, so that there is a significant load in the wings of the outer nut, whereas the wings of zone D just rest lightly on the supporting flanks of the screw.

In order to eliminate such a margin and to be able to fully load the threads in zones C and D, a dustable cross-section q, o is provided between zones B and C, whose compressive strength in the direction of the screw axis is the same as the tensile strength of the screw Relationships, such as the useful length of the thread of zones A and B to .the useful length of the thread of the entire nut.

The cross-section q "begins to bulge when its load reaches the yield point of the material. Any further load on the screw is only absorbed by the threads in zones C and D and the threads in zones A < / I> and B are thus protected from overload.

Since the compressible cross-section is located approximately in the middle of the total height of the nut and there usually -the outer and inner nuts, as well as the screw are made of material of the same strength, the cross-section qlp is approximately equal to half of the screw - core cross-section.

It has been found that compliance with the following dimensions is particularly advantageous for achieving the desired effects.

The apex angle α of the conical contact surface of the inner nut is between 45 = 60.

The diameter d, of the circle circumscribed at the head end of the clamping jaws is approximately equal to 1.05 of the nominal thread diameter d; the heights of the two conical surfaces of the clamping jaws are approximately the same.

The distance of the center lines u of the slots 11, 12 is advantageously assumed to be 0.7 d and the width of the slots 0.15 d.

Through the slots 11 and 12, which are visible in FIGS. 2, 6, 7 and 8, the width of the jaws is reduced and the flexibility of the jaws is increased and the required size of the cross-section can also be achieved.

From Fig. 2 it can be seen that in the clamping jaws t around the cross section v, - w flexible parts r, </ I> which can bend under the pressure of the outer nut, can differ. In contrast, the jaws t 'have no such flexible parts. So there are wide gaps between the resistant parts of the jaws, which offer no resistance to the pressure of the external nut (slots m) and those which only offer a low resistance (parts r).

Measured at the intersection K of the two conical surfaces, these spaces are given by circumferential lengths which correspond to the angle m + m. The resistant parts of the clamping jaws are given by circumferential widths that correspond to , .

Which the angle si respectively. s "Circumferential lengths of the circle K, which correspond to your angle m -j- m, are approximately half the lengths that correspond to the angle s, and slightly more than half the length which corresponds to the angle s.

The mentioned gaps have the consequence that the outer nut is deformed during tightening in such a way that its conical surface assumes an approximately octagonal shape. As a result of this penetration of the outer nut between the clamping jaws, by tightening the outer nut, a sufficient tightening moment can also be transferred to the inner nut, which is made possible by a comfortable tightening of the nut.

It was found that the torque that is transmitted to the inner nut with the help of the deformation of the outer nut described is almost twice as large as that which can be transmitted merely by the friction on the contact surfaces who can. With the specified ratio of the circumferential lengths corresponding to the angle m, + m2 on the circle K, to those corresponding to the angle s, respectively. s. corresponds, if the screw is only tightened by: the outer nut, no more than the load permissible for it is transferred to the inner nut.

With the increasing load, the friction of the inner nut on the base also increases, so that it stops turning as soon as the limit of the permissible screw tension is reached. In this way, you can achieve a certain level of security against damage or even tearing of the screw through excessive tightening.

Furthermore, as a result of the above-described deformation of the outer nut, greater security against loosening is achieved than would be the case only through mere friction on the bearing surfaces.

With a smaller angle m + m than specified, it would not be possible to transfer a sufficient torque from the outer nut to the inner nut. Increasing this angle would, on the one hand, be disadvantageous for the load-bearing strength of the nut thread and, on the other hand, cause the external nut to deform too much.

Tests have also shown that the lowest overall height of the screw nut in conjunction with sufficient load-bearing capacity of the thread is achieved when the contact surface f4 with a screw diameter d and a smallest diameter of approximately d, = </ I > 1.0.5 d, has a largest diameter of approximately d2 = 1.23 d and an axial height h = 0.175 d .

Since the height of the outer nut H = 0.55 d, the height Hz of the ring part of the inner nut 0.4 d and the height H of the approach of the inner nut 0.35 d.
