Dispositif vibratoire.
Dans les exemples de réalisation donnés ci-dessus pour produire une action électrique ou un travail mécanique, on a admis que la pièce mobile 4 quittait sa position de repos pour prendre une position d'équilibre stable; ceci implique, comme il a été dit, que le déplacement meure de cette pièce mobile fa vorisait l'amplitude des vibrations de l'en semble vibrant, ou tout au moins que l'am plitude de ces vibrations était toujours suffi sante pour vaincre les forces de pesanteur ou d'inertie s'opposant au déplacement de cette pièce et à l'établissement de son équi libre ;
Vibratory device. It is common practice to use alternating electric currents to vibrate parts whose movement is intended to do a specific job; this is how the vibration of blades or elastic bodies is used to close contacts, cause wheel clutches or disengages, rotate various axles, etc.
The use of the vibratory movements of the vibrating elastic blades or bodies is carried out by known and simple mechanical means such as not to interfere with these movements.
The present invention relates to a vibratory device which is based on the principle according to which a moving part, mounted on a vibrating blade or on a vibrating elastic body, tends, under the effect of the vibrations thereof. , to, move in relation to the blade or vibrating body to balance in a privileged position. We can then use the movement of this part, either separately or in combination with the vibrations transmitted to it by the vibrating member (blade or elastic body) to do the desired action: closing a contact , movement of an organ, etc.
In the accompanying drawing, given by way of example, FIG. 1 serves to explain the principle of the device according to the invention; Figs. 2 to 4 show, respectively, how the device according to the invention can be used to close or open a contact; Fig. 5 shows how the device can be used to drive a ratchet wheel.
In fig. 1 of the drawing, 1 represents a vibrating blade embedded in 2; the free end of this blade carries a rigidly fixed part 3; 4 is a part movable around a shaft 5 pivoted in part 3; part 4 may be in any form, a lance, a tube, etc. ; it rests at its free end on a stop 6; the location of this stop 6 is chosen at best in each particular case but, in principle, it can be any and, in particular, also below the plane of the blade 1; 7 is a magnetic part, polarized or not, which carries a winding 8; 9 and 10 are respectively the terminals of this winding.
The operation of the device is then as follows: terminals 9 and 10 are connected to a periodic current generator, no. shown in the figure, which magnetizes part 7; the period- of this current is chosen of the same order or of the order of half of that of the vibrating assembly depending on whether the part 7 is polarized or not; under these conditions, the blade 1 vibrates and, under this effect, the moving part 4 leaves the stop 6 to move in the direction of arrow f and come to occupy a position located in the vicinity of line 5, 11 ; in this new position, the longitudinal axis of the part 4 is approximately perpendicular to the plane of the blade 1 if the axis 5 is very close to this blade.
It goes without saying that the natural period of the vibrating assembly varies according to the position of the part 4, but it is sufficient that the vibrations of the blade 1 are sufficient when the part 4 occupies its rest position for the latter to be nevertheless moves in the direction of arrow f and, if the natural period of vibration of the assembly approaches that of the excitation, as the moving part moves; the vibrations of the assembly increase until they become maximum in the equilibrium position of the part 4.
On the fis. 2, it has been indicated how the movement of the moving part 4 on the vibrating blade 1 can be used to close a moving contact 12 on a fixed contact 13.
On the fis. 3, it has been indicated how a contact can be closed when the movable part 4 leaves its rest position and releases the movable contact 14 which closes the contact at 15.
On the fis. 4, there is shown how the movement of the part 4 can be used to open a contact; normally, the weight of the part 4 is sufficient to support the movable contact 16 on a fixed contact 17; when the part 4 moves, the contact 16 opens under the effect of a spring or a counterweight.
Finally, it is understood that one could directly close or open a contact with the part 4, considered in this case as a moving contact.
On the fis. 5, there is shown a ratchet wheel 18 movable around an axis 19 -and capable of being driven in the direction of arrow f '; in this case, the end of the part 4 is suitably finished so as to be able to drive the wheel 18 in the manner of a pawl; it may even possibly have a certain longitudinal elasticity; the wheel 18 is placed so that the part 4 engages with it before having reached its equilibrium position.
The operation is then easy to understand: Under the effect of the vibrations, the part 4 moves until it comes into contact with the wheel 18 and, at this moment, the blade 1 communicates its vibrations to the part 4 which them. transmits to wheel 18 and drives it in the direction of arrow f 'in the manner of a pawl.
In the embodiments given above to produce an electrical action or a mechanical work, it has been accepted that the movable part 4 leaves its rest position to take a position of stable equilibrium; this implies, as has been said, that the dying displacement of this moving part fa vorized the amplitude of the vibrations of the vibrating unit, or at least that the amplitude of these vibrations was always sufficient to overcome the vibrations. forces of gravity or inertia opposing the movement of this part and the establishment of its free equilibrium;
it is possible, on the contrary, for the movement of the moving part to tend to reduce, from a certain position, the vibrations of the assembly so that the moving part returns to its initial position; an oscillating movement of the moving part is thus obtained which can be used like a beating on a bell.
Without departing from the scope of the present invention, it is possible to vary in particular the shape of the vibrating parts, the way of producing the vibrations of these parts and the frequency of these vibrations.
The examples given have been chosen only to make the nature of the invention clearly understood and to show that it is particularly applicable to electrical relays.
