440<B>kg</B> Silikatschlaeke.
Process for the production of virtually to completely silicon-free ferrophosphorus. It has already been proposed to melt down alumina, iron and silicic acid-containing substances with sufficient amounts of coal to reduce both iron and silicon, whereby in addition to regular ferrosilicon, molten aluminum oxide is obtained, but certain impurities, such as titanium and certain in particular Contains quantities of silicon which can no longer be removed from the aluminum oxide, which is obtained in the melt flow and is consequently extremely resistant to chemical agents, so that this by-product is almost completely worthless.
On the other hand, the ferrophosphate, which can be obtained thermally in the usual way by fusing together raw hiphosphates with ferrous, mostly siliceous substances and with the necessary amount of reducing and with the necessary amount of reducing carbon, as well as with the addition of other silicic acid-containing substances phor from the silicic acid-containing starting materials and additives, especially at the high temperature of the electric furnace, more or less significant amounts of 2D silicon.
According to the invention, the thermal production of practically to completely silicon-free ferrophosphorus takes place simultaneously with an aluminum compounds that are suitable for further processing on silicic acid-free, such as in particular altiminium oxide, practically to completely gravel:
Elic acid-free, aluminum oxide and calcium oxide containing slag from silicic acid-containing raw materials available in unlimited quantities at cheap prices by way of the 22 zz production of ferrosilicon as an intermediate product in such a way that a mixture of substances is formed from which the elements iron and silicon "are formed by reduction and at the same time a slag containing calcium oxide and aluminum oxide can arise,
heated with such an amount of a carbon-containing reducing agent that all bound iron is reduced to metallic iron and all bound silicon is reduced to metallic silicon, whereby ferrosilicon is obtained in addition to a practically to completely silicic acid-free slag containing calcium and aluminum oxide, and that this is then converted into a practically to completely silicon-free ferrophosphorus by fusing it with a phosphate, where use is made of the known fact that silicon as such or in the form of its alloys is capable of
Phosphorus pentoxyl and phosphate to elemental phosphorus with the formation of a silicate slag.
The slag obtained in the first process stage in addition to the ferrosilicon, containing aluminum oxide and calcium oxide and containing practically silicic acid, can be used as the starting material for the production of pure aluminum compounds, in particular for the production of pure aluminum oxychloride for the production of metallic aluminum by fused-salt electrolysis Find.
The ferrosilicon obtained is melted together with phosphates, such as tricalium phosphate, aluminum phosphate, iron phosphate and the like, the oxygen of the phosphate combining with the silicon of the ferrous silicon to form SiO2 and the phosphorus released with the iron to form ferrophosphorus, which , in particular when using a sufficient, advantageously excess amount of phosphate can easily be obtained silicon-free, for example down to a few hundredths of a percent.
The silica formed comes together with the basic constituents of the phosphate used to form, for example, a hydraulic binder or for the production of such a usable silica slag.
As a result of its strongly exothermic character, this conversion process can generally be carried out without any additional use of reducing carbon and without supplying more heat than the heat required to introduce it, for example in a shaft furnace or in an electric furnace.
The implementation of the first process stage can take place in any suitable furnace, for example a shaft furnace or also in an electric furnace. When working in the shaft furnace, the amount of coal to be struck must be increased by at least the amount of combustion coal necessary to achieve the reaction temperature.
For the supply of the iron and silicon required for the formation of the ferrous silicon, as well as the calcium and aluminum oxide required for the formation of the calcium aluminate slag in the first process stage, any of the substances mentioned, optionally two or more of the same at the same time, can be used Substances are used, such as, for example, iron oxides, bauxite, alumina, clay or clay containing iron, aluminum silicaf, lime, limestone and the like.
The ratio of the amounts of calcium oxide and aluminum oxide introduced in this way can be regulated as desired. Advantageously, the amount of calcium oxide is somewhat larger than the amount equivalent to the aluminum oxy-cl present. <B> '</B> After the separation, carried out in the usual way by tapping, of the obtained in the first process stage,
Ferrosilicon separated in regular form can be modified, if necessary, in the same furnace by adding certain additives to the composition of the remaining aluminate slag. For example, add iron oxide or other oxides in any manner appropriate to the intended use, for example as molten cement.
The aluminum and caleiumexyclic slag, for example, containing the same molecular ratio, can be used with particular advantage for the production of pure, in particular iron, silica and titanium largely to completely free and therefore eminently suitable for the production of aluminum or aluminum alloys by melt flow electrolysis Aluminum oxide or other pure aluminum compounds are used.
By treating this sludge with alkaline digesting agents such as soda solution. Caustic alkali solution and the like, you can, for example, in a manner known per se, a solution of alkali aluminate he keep, which you continue. For example, according to the Bayer process, can process on pure aluminum oxide, while the residue obtained as a by-product, consisting of caleium carbonate, if necessary after being converted into caleium oxide by burning, is repeatedly in the circuit as an additive to the formation of caleium oxide and Slag containing aluminum oxide can be used.
For the treatment with the alkaline digestion solutions, the aluminate slag is expediently converted in the form of granules by atomization, for example by blowing a stream of air into the slag flowing out of the furnace, which is advantageously converted immediately afterwards with water or else with the alkaline digestion solution, also expediently in finely divided form or in the form of rain.
Prior to known processes for the production of ferrophosphorus with simultaneous formation of a melt consisting of calcium oxide and aluminum oxide, the process described has the advantage that, using any number of silicic acid-containing, very cheap starting materials such as tricalium phosphate, bauxite, etc., in addition to silicon-free ferrophosphere slag are obtained that are free respectively. are practically free of silica.
Example: 1000 kg of bauxite (with 49.5% A1203, 8% Si02 and 13.5% Fe2O3), along with 350 kg of burnt lime and 100 kg of coal are melted in the electric resistance furnace at around 1750 ° C by means of resistance heating. Due to its high specific weight, the resulting ferrosilicon can be smoothly separated from the calcium aluminate slag. 130 kg of ferrosilicon with 27% Si 888.5 kg of calcium aluminate slag with 39.5% Ca0, 55% A12O3, 0.8% SiO2, 0.4% P, 0.7% Fe2O3 are obtained.
The calcium aluminate slag is processed in a known manner by breaking it down with nitric acid to form calcium nitrate and alumina hydrate, which is converted into pure alumina by annealing.
The 130 kg ferrosilicon is still liquid in a furnace preheated to 1500 (for example a Brackelsberg furnace) with 250 kg phosphate (with 15.2% P, 49% CaO and 4.8% SiO2) and 50 kg scrap iron. The silicon is exchanged for the phosphorus in the phosphate, so that a practically silicon-free iron phosphorus and a calcium silicate slag are obtained.
The following are applied: 118 kg iron phosphorus (with 21% P and 0.5% Si), 220 kg calcium silicate flake (with 55% Ca0, 40% SiO2 and 0.6% P).
Alumina produced on 1000 kg. So consumed: 2000 kg of bauxite, 700 kg of lime, 100 kg of scrap, 510 kg of phosphate, 200 kg of coke.
The following are obtained: <B> 360 kg </B> iron phosphorus (with '-) 1% .P and <B> 0.5% </B> Si), <B> 1770 kg </B> caleium - aluminate slag . 440 <B> kg </B> silicate sludge.
