Description
Plastic coating for coating walls and ceilings and process for the manufacture thereof. The present invention relates to a plastic coating for coating walls and ceilings, consisting of a mixture obtained using white chalk, linseed oil, black soap, white lead, ammonia, varnish. and glue. This coating can be applied to. the plastic state, by means of a suitable or til, in thin layers and shaped so .à. imitate in the hardened state the usual interior and exterior coverings of walls and ceilings.
The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing this coating. The coating described may be white in color, or contain coloring matters, in order to imitate construction materials, such as wood, molasse, sandstone, veined marble, noleum, leather, etc. Color could also be added even during application.
The coating can be applied in a pasty state, on masonry, concrete, wood, glass, iron, etc. To this end, the facing can be coated with a relatively thin layer of paste, for example a few millimeters, by means of a spatula or trowel or even a brush, in the same way as is practiced. for lime or plaster renderings.
While the application is fresh and plastic, it can be shaped to give it the appearance of raw or worked stone or marble, carved wood or panels, embossed leather, etc. This gives - interior decorations, imitating the coverings of the most varied materials or exterior decorations imitating exposed masonry, for example in grouted blocks or else the wise plaster or the covering in shingles, etc .;
Once dry, the coating is very adherent and 'does not deteriorate in bad weather. It does not deform during drying, does not shrink and its consistency is such that it can be cleaned by simple washing, without risking damage to it.
A method -of manufacture @de described coating is .donné below, by way of example. The first operation consists in first of all forming a hot solution of approximately 5 kg of cooked linseed oil, heated in a pot in which one adds, by mixing everything well, 500 grams of black soap and 3, 50'0 kg - ammonia solution - of current concentration.
On the other hand, we mix in a container, if possible in a mechanical kneader, about 80 kg of fine powdered white chalk with the quantity of water necessary to form a dough, and knead enough to obtain a thick plastic mass. , then the solution prepared as explained above is poured into it, taking care to mix everything well, adding another 12 kg of white lead, 5 kg of moisture-resistant varnish and finally 3 kg strong glue, hot dissolved.
The whole mass is then kneaded for a while, until. that the mixture is intimate and homogeneous.
The paste, of white color, thus obtained naked, is housed -in -cans, covered with a weak layer of oil, with the interposition of a sheet of parchment paper to avoid desiccation and the cans well blocked. by means of a removable cover, for transport.
To obtain a colored coating, one adds to the mass, either during mixing or during application, the quantity and the combinations of colors necessary to obtain the desired shade.
